Way of the Hunter

So I'll just say that I don't hunt. Its always been one of those things I wanted to do but when I hear my friends that do hunt praise this game I was intrigued. I picked it up after watching a couple video and got stuck on graphical things that really bothered me. The ground constantly looks like ants are crawling all over. Motion Blur, and a few other things. Once I finished getting the game to an accptable looking state I was off! Jesus man. The amount of walking while at first seems tedious I got lost in. The enviroments are incredible. The animals fleeing if your out of position. All this realization really hit home for me and really made me think about how far our civilization has come. We factory farm now for most of our food." This game unlocked a reward center in my brain when I killed my first deer by accidentally running it over. It makes me want to go hunting. Right now I dont have any one who wants to go with me that knows what they are doing. That would be willing to huff in miles to a location to maybe or maybe not get an animal. I digress. Those who are having technical issues I'm sorry. It's not gonna affect my judgement of this game because I can see what it's going to be.

There are so many reviews of the game and so I will restrain myself to comment on a few tips and how to commence if your computer kneels under the load. I have a 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700F and a Nvidia G-Force 3070 and my computer used to die (go black due to temperature) at least once a day, but I fixed that by turning 'Foliage' down to low in the settings (made me stay on Temporal for antialiasing). This apparently has the benefit of making it easier to follow blood trail as well. Another hint is that all animals haves to drink and so being at a lake in the morning 7-10 AM depending on species (you can find the exact time in the encyclopedia once you have discovered enough), Like many here, I have played Deer Hunter, but this one is more about patience and slow walking after you have mapped it all up and I think I have a new favorite hunting game for years to come unless some company actually beats it :)

If you want shooting gallery, you should play something else. For someone that wants to experience what it could feel like to be hunting, this is the game to play. That said, you don't have to be wanting 100% hardcore realism, you can tweak the realism quite nicely to your liking so I would say that it is pretty flexible in that sense. I'm not saying it's perfect or complete (at least not yet) but I really love the way this game has been made. I mostly just hunt by my own will and I'm not very much into story based gaming but sometimes it's actually nice to have a job to do. There are things that I would change or add in to the game so lets list some of them: I would add - Full year seasons for every map - Even more weapons to choose from (Pistols....) - Shooting ranges (Skeet and plinking) - Gear for night time hunting - Tents I would change: - More random wind - Add some markers for dead small game even if played on most extreme difficulty or give a chance to tweak difficulty even better to taste - Give possibility to tweak colour saturation

Great hunting game. Better mechanics than Call of the Wild. Highly recommended. Would love to see new maps in the future, hand guns, and new animals as well like elephants, hippos, and rhinos. 10/10 Multiplayer is very fun just slightly buggy/unstable.
