Way of the Hunter

Multiplayer is literally unplayable, and single player is mostly unplayable. Crashes, desync, phasing through things, animals freeze or are invincible. Pressing tab to bring up inventory... crashes the menu system and makes the game freeze. After 3+ hours we basically gave up even trying.

I do highly recomend this game. It's already fun and has a fair amount of content but the devs are adding more. THAT SAID, this isn't a hunting game, it's a hunting sim and you will get pissed at times. I highly recomend you play on the easiest difficulty as even on that spooking animals is super easy. You have to account for bullet drop and your scent on the wind. You also have to place your shots exactly like in real life. If you hit a deer 3 times and none of them get anything important that deer will survive. Following blood trails is a massive part of fameplay and you have to account for it breaking if the deer crossed a river. Last I logged in I shot a deer I had to follow for 3 KM in game before I found it dead. This game is gunning for the realism approach you're going to spook half your hunts before you get a shot off but if you're looking for a realistic hunting sim you've found exactly what you're looking for right here. If you want a quick hunting shooter game this is not for you.

I preorderd this game, but was a bit sceptical since we didnt get to see too much gameplay trailers before release. I have to say: Coming from theHunter (classic and CotW) this game absolutely delivers. The maps feel alive, buzzling with animal variety. The gameplay is quite rich, hunting is fun. Although animals are skitty, you dont feel like its unnecessary hard. I love to be able to play a hunting game on my favorite DRM-Free platform. Thank you, developers! Only critique as of now (20th of August): Its very hard to find downed animals, espcially ducks sometimes in the foliage. In my opinion, a bit TOO hard, even with hunter sense. Two possible solutions: A fetching dog or some markers of downed area (which you could switch on and off as per your preference.) Otherwise, very well done!

The game has a interesting story that is worth playing which helps familiarize yourself with the mechanics of the game while at the same time being vaguely heartwarming animal killing not withstanding. They use the term harvesting and while that’s a little initially jarring in the cosmic scheme of things since you’re only hunting for purpose of feeding people if you’re doing the story it’s not gratuitous. Don’t listen to those people saying the graphics are bad, the graphics are God tier, I have a 3090 and I have almost everything to ultra and it is photo realistic, water is great, the sky is great, clouds indicate the way the wind is blowing, foliage is amazing, the animals are amazing. The story gives you tasks that usually involve hunting a particular animal so you always feel like you’re moving towards a goal. I have to force myself off to take a break it’s that much fun.

After 5h of playing game did not saved. So now am supposed to play whole tutorial and all the first quest again.
