Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
I bought the game to play it on my notebook (i7,16 GB Ram, nvidia 750m) using the latest Linux Mint. Unfortunetly there is some massive problem with the camera. Whenever i change the perspective there is a big the area goes "black" (happens more often than not) until i change it again to some working state (till i move/rotate next time).
This is so annoying that i wanted to make contact to gog in hindsight of their garantee. It seems impossible to make contact with them choosing the topic about technical issues. Writing an complaint using a different topic on week ago, did not lead to anything exept an support ticket.
Despite my personal technical issues i don't understand why they choose a 3d enviroment for the game, seems just less beautiful and more clumsy.

For those who are having problem with the game crashing at start, it is a problem with filedescriptor limits.
What you need to do is set add the line below to the startup script:
ulimit -n 4096
That should fix all your problems.
I genuinely was enjoying this game, but after a little over 90 hours, it gets to a point where problems that weren't that bad for the rest of the game become glaringly horendous. I wanted to finish the game since I had already put so much time in effort into it. Sadly *spoilers* for me, once I got to California, the difficulty ranked up to a point where unless you grind random events over and over again, and level up your characters to a ridiculous level, and pray to God that you get a decent weapon, you will not be able to win. You can't even skip certain missions because story missions are about as difficult. It gets to a point where your characters are fairly high level and can only attack maybe once or twice (if you're lucky) and the enemies can attack over six times in one turn. Some enemies have weapons that can one shot any of your characters, but your stuck with what you find, sometimes meaning you do a 20 damage to somebody with 1500. There is a lot of jank to the game that makes certain aspects of the game extremely frustrating purely due to the fact that almost all jank in the game benefits the enemy and hurts you. I liked this game a lot, but after 90 hours, problems that could be ignored became almost game breaking.
I generally put my games on the hardest level I can. I quit when I realized that I had already lowered the difficulty to second easiest. There is no reason why a game should be that difficult. The amount of resource management you have to do rivals the original Resident Evil. You almost never find any good equipment. There is almost no randomly spawning healing items. The graphics aren't that great and after a while the game becomes one of the most frustrating experiences I've had with a game. I'm extrememly sad because I was have a really fun time, but the design and the mechanics are not good, and they really show themselves in the late game.
The atmosphere in the game is excellent. Chatter and threats coming from the radio are unique and well voice acted. The setting feels fresh, but also familiar. The characters are occasionally both personable, and hardened as befits the setting. But often, the non player characters are one dimensional. Complaining and quest giving seem to be the major past times of npc in Wasteland. It made the game take on a very ... mmo vibe.
Given that largely every encounter devolves into a violent set piece against a barren wasteland, I have to wonder that there wasn't a car chase (perhaps that is later). But I want to state ahead of time that no matter what difficulty you choose to play at your squad members and the civilians are going to die. Which seems appropriate for the setting, but too often feels random and uncontrolled, not even as elegant as a rogue likes brutality.
The UI will not help you. It will count off AP for movement, but not items (which may have different AP cost). It will list percentages that are too high, or too low, and only the shotgun will work consistently. The enemies are lack luster, and being hit with a dot and going unconscious ensures characters death, as the use of the unskilled pain killers is glitchy - there were occasions where my typewriter log dictated 10 uses of a painkiller on a downed character before the character died without the painkillers being used - and the economy is designed to punish you for purchasing anything besides Trauma kits, ammunition, and rad suits. There doesn't feel like a way to explore the game through developing anything but your take on Mad Max.
This is very much in the style of Fallout 1 & 2.
Gameplay seemed quite well balanced to me. I had no quests that were impossible to complete if approached in the right way.
Also I had no bugs or glitches with quests.
I did have a couple of minor Graphical bugs but nothing game breaking.
The tutorial tips however could have been much better.
Half way through the game I was finding I could do things that I was not aware of earlier on because none of the tips mentioned it.
I have always liked the Turn Based RPG style game and this definitely scratched the itch.
I got a good 70 hours plus of enjoyment out of this game.
