Wartales surprised me. It is a rare game that lets you play without getting in the way. Within minutes you will be out in the world, building your party and writing your story. That is something to be cherished in a world full of games that hold your hand to a painful degree or RPGs that take ten to twenty hours just to get to the meat of things. Wartales knows how to let players explore and have fun and doesn’t actively try to stop you from doing so, which is, unfortunately, all too rare these days. If you want a game that respects your time, look no further than Wartales.

Wartales is the perfect game for those who love turn-based action and min-maxing their characters. The progression system is well-thought to keep you engaged while you explore each map. Combat and crafting are two other complementary systems that add extra layers of strategy.

Slow, no focus, and poor balance
I am a few hours into the game. I restarted after a battle where I beat 2 of 3 fighter. The third was able to shoot his bow then run away, staying well out of the range of my group. Movement on the world map is very slow and at time frustrating. The profession system is stupid. Fishing and chopping wood are professions? You will use up all your food and other resources moving (slowly) across the map just trying to find something to do.

After 100 hours in! November 2023!
Alright you scrubs! First thing first. Disregard ALL reviews that give this game less than 9/10. They are scrubs that know NOTHING! Game is 9/10 AT LEAST. Positives: 1. Beautiful 2. Requires HIGH IQ to succeed! 3. EXTREMELY customizable! 4. OPEN WORLD (open to your imagination!) 5. REPEATABLE! You can start and play with different setups, it never gets boring! 6. Cheap! Where are all those £20 DLCs??? Devs don't know how to exploit their fans LMAO! I gifted this AMAZING game to 2 of my best friends cos I want to support the game! 7. Best TACTICAL combat since... EVER??? I was thinking if I saw something like this in the past but I couldn't come to anything close to it. I guess Divinity OS2 is similar or Heroes of MM3 or maybe XCOM or Xenonauts?? But WARTALES is even better! Practically no RNG in a battle! This is so rare in gaming!!! 8. Amazing sound effects. From footsteps to hits etc. Everything feels great! Music variety could be better tho... After 100 hours I kinda want to turn to a podcast or something. NEGATIVES 1. FEMALES=MALES. Oh wow, EQUITY in gaming, SHOCKING!!! Really crazy to see all these female blacksmiths lmao! Also no sexy female characters. Come on, this game was made for male audience! Please deliver devs!!! 2. That is it! No more wokeness this this game, only what I said in point 1. Really RECOMMEND this game to anyone with 100+ IQ!

You cannot heal during combat
Let that sink in. There is a lame first aid that does almost nothing, but that's it. Can anyone remember an RPG that doesn't allow you to heal during combat? No cleric? No medic/mendicant? Can't use the healing potions in your inventory? Seriously? I would really like this game otherwise.
