Warlords III: Darklords Rising

Played the demo over 20 years ago. Loved it. Finally get to play it after all these years. Very addictive. Fun games. Great fantasy artwork.

I still enjoy playing W3:DR. I don't recall when I first started playing it, but it was likely around the time it came out in 1998. It's a simple game with simple mechanics and graphics. but that's a big part of its charm. It doesn't require a great deal of thinking, but the AI is still good enough to keep you on your toes. And the random map generator malkes for endless p-layability. Play this game if you some good old fashioned warlord empire building.

Very glad steam made it possible to play many of the Warlord games again. It is of course nostagia but this is still a good game, but without the flashy graphics which I don't mind at all. I even played Warlords by E-mail that days , Chris where are you? drop me a line. yellowflag at gmail etc.

The Warlords series is an all-time classic. It predates the Heroes of Might and Magic series and therefore lacks some of the features introduced there (notably the combat system), but in its time Warlords was the gold standard for fantasy turn-based strategy. My brother and I played Warlords by email for years. As a bonus, the game editor that comes with Darklords Rising is fun and flexible, if you like creating your own scenarios.

Really disappointing that the game continuously crashes on Windows 10. Also keeps warning about being low on disk space every time I run (even though I am absolutely not low disk space). Will update my review when/if the devs release a fix for the constant crashing.
