Warlords III: Darklords Rising

The game is a turn based fantasy strategy with RPG elements with a profound customization system so as to enable a personialized experience. A multitude of exisiting campaigns and scenarios to choose from and if you're up for it, there's a map editor as well. The game is patched to v.1.02. Many thanks to GOG for finally managing to bring us this gem for legal and hassle-free play. And of course kudos to Steve Fawkner and the rest of the gang for their enthusiasm!

The definition of a hidden gem. This game is much like the Risk boardgame in gameplay but in a D&D fantasy setting. If you like Risk and D&D settings then you will likely love this as much as I do! Its a simple turn-based strategy with a little depth such as: the ability to customize an army to use for a game, or go with a pre-set army. When you attain a fair amount of gold an option to buy a hero comes up who can level up and carry items unlike regular armies. Great randomizing map function with plenty of options. Up to 8 players at a time whether PC or human. But do not expect online play; it might be there but this came out in 1998 and I do not think so. 20 yrs ago me, my brother and cousin would enjoy this for hours though and its just as great as i remember! Such a gem!!!

A Throughly satisfing game to whittle away the idle hours. The first 100 hours was frustrating , got killed a lot, until I became familiar with the game mechanics, hero bonuses, strategy and tatics and how the buffs/debuffs affect combat out comes. I gave the game 4 stars because of the art work in the intro, very kitchy.

Been playing the campaign "Bane Wars" and discovered how important it is to advance your 3 primary heroes so you can best exploit the weaknesses of your opponents. It helps to advance your Pegasi units in this campaign because without being able to produce them in one turn I see no way I could have ever beaten this campaign.
