Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - Gold Edition

I own this on disks and got it working on an old Win 7 gaming laptop I keep around for old games. What surprise to find this in 2020 on GOG and it works perfectly on my Win 10 brand new gaming laptop! The game is as close to Total War Warhammer before that masterpiece was created. Although mostly linear, it is a blast. Think Dark Omen and Shadow of the Hornet Rat more than Total War, nevertheless a vastly underrated masterpiece.

Bought the game on disc a while back but might pick it up here again for a digital copy and those goodies. Warhammer: Mark of Chaos/Battle March is an RTS set right after the Great War Against Chaos period of the Warhammer Fantasy universe. The game has three linear campaigns, each featuring two of the six races you can play as. Gameplay-wise it plays like the battles from Total War but incorporates rules from the table-top version of the game (such as daemons taking more damage and becoming easier to hit as they lose morale instead of fleeing). Mark of Chaos is also on a much smaller scale than Total War in terms of army size, but you also have a lot more control over how a regiment can interact on the battlefield. General and hero characters also follow more RPG style mechanics, being able to level up and earn different skills and specializations. There's also a dueling mechanic for opposing heroes that allows them to fight one on one in the middle of a battle, which looks very cool with some of the larger characters you can field. Overall the game is pretty solid as an RTS and definitely delivers on the high fantasy theme of Warhammer. Definitely worth picking up.

Still got it on CD but cant run on new OS, so happy to see it here finally ! Been waiting so long to find it somewhere ! Played it for so many times when I was younger (for me, as good, even maybe better, than the TW warhammer) Yes this is nostolgia's speaking ^^

People who can't run game on win10 or so, I had found the solution. They should put this on game page, so people would know how to deal with it before buying it. Here: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006545717-Warhammer-Mark-of-Chaos-Gold-Edition?product=gog Under 'Known solutions to game issues' The game does not support Intel integrated graphics and so if you have such a card on your computer it is advised to switch to the dedicated graphics card if available: For NVIDIA: Please go to NVIDIA Control Panel and there to Manage 3D settings. You should be able to select the NVIDIA card as the preferred device. If this will not help to run the game, then please create a custom profile for the game to use GeForce as preferred device. For AMD: Please open AMD Radeon Settings -> Preferences -> Radeon Additional Settings. This will open a new windows, here you can access the Switchable graphics menu and set Radeon as the preferred device. If this will not help, then please go to AMD Radeon Settings -> Gaming and create new profile for the game, in which AMD Radeon will be used as preferred device.
