It's not as bad as people make it

It is a fun game, but too many people are looking for it to be Diablo or some other title made again. I don't think that it deserves all the hate it gets. if you want some isometric hack and slash and looting, it's really a fun time. Even more so if you play with a friend as most things are. Its story isn't deep, but if you look at it neither are most of the games they compare it to. Don't assume you will hate it just because other people say it's not "as good as Diablo/Torchlight/Grim Dawn," because i wasn't a fan of the latter those and I liked this.

A work in progress

I am a big Warhammer fan, and also I played Diablo 3 for many years with almost every class in that game and was able to do some nice rift runs there. I know this game may not be perfect, but it has some nice features that I enjoy a lot. I felt it like it was a better version for D3, or at least that is the main goal with this game, I think the Tower of Chaos, Relic Hunt, Expeditons and Invasions can add a lot of fun to your gameplay. Also I like the God, Fragment and Legendary systems, it adds a lot of variety, and you can also have several specs with one character. The art is beautiful, as with almost every Warhammer game, and I enjoyed the music. I agree that the story could be a lot better, having in mind that this universe has an abundant lore and you can have a lot to play with in the narrative, but it was decent and straight to the point. I concur that it may be weird for someone who does not know anything about the history of the Old World, and it can be very bland to them. But I think what I love the most, is that despite the bad reviews, the developers continued to improve and work, and that is something I wish it could happen with a lot of games, it shows care for the craft and the people who are supporting them, so I'm pretty sure there will be new features in the game very soon. I recommend it, but you may want to try it first to see if you are into these type of games. Thank you for reading. :)

Somewhere between Torhlight 1 Diablo III

So my usual disclaimer: I am a crusty old picky gamer and I got this on sale for $22. Also, I have played a lot of ARPGs. As an ARPG this game is bare bones and I am grateful I bought it on sale. Like many have stated, this game is very repetitive even for an ARPG. Many levels are indeed copied and pasted or just run in reverse. Story is almost none existent., music is dull. Now normally in an ARPG that really isn't a deal breaker and I agree, however I mention it to drive home the point that this game has very little content that makes you really engaged in the game world and care about even the game play mechanics. One user mentioned that you should start on "Very Hard" difficulty and I agree. The game is very unbalanced. Early on you will struggle but by level 30 things will turn in your favor and you will suddenly find nothing really stopping you. The loot in this game is pure garbage. Then magically near the end of Act 3/beginning of Act 4 you will suddenly get gear that is both over the top powerful but also boring as an item. I finished the last boss off in about a minute on my first try without breaking a sweat. This game does have a nice atmosphere/look to it and the game was stable on my PC. I was able to discern what was happening on screen at all times so that it didn't devolve into a bland color paste like Torchlight 1/2 but the enemy behavior and variety was so repetitive that I was mowing down enemies so fast that it didn't really matter what skills I had or what gear I had or where I was. The only real challenge was the boss fight at the end of act 3. Most skills where useless or boring to use and loot was underwhelming even when I got top tier level 50 red gear. When I finished the game I had no desire to try ANY of the end game content. My subjective rating for this game is 2/5. Two stars for being stable on my PC and having a decent look to it. I only recommend this game DIE HARD fans of Warhammer or novices to the ARPG genre.

good arpg for warhammer fans

Fun arpg in the warhammer universe, you have a limited hotbar abilities that cost a certain amount to equip, this mean that you can't just load your hotbar up with your most powerful abilities and whatever you decide to equip is ultimately going to cost you in some way now that the games receive a lot of update, it is better my only complain was the level variety, in act 1 it is 90% sewers and 10% nuln streets & rempart, but it gets better when you're going further if you already played vermintide 2 and total war warhammer and you want more maybe this game can please you

Let's compare with Diablo 3

Everyone's doing it, but nobody is getting detailed. So, let's get detailed. PROS -Each character gets several loadouts that can be swapped at a moment's notice, allowing you to easily compare the strengths and weaknesses of the builds you have in mind, as opposed to swapping out items 1 at a time -Buffs from items and abilities stack, making it possible to min-max your character to a truly insane degree that I never saw in D3. If you know what you're doing, you can take out the final boss in 3 hits. -You don't have to start over to keep playing; There are plenty of post-game events to challenge yourself with, including an endless mode that gets progressively harder, or replayable boss fights with customizable hazards -Like D3, you can hypothetically level up forever -The design for everything is spot-on. The characters and environment really get across the feel of Warhammer. There was not a single moment when I thought to myself "This is okay, but it looks like something I'd see in Diablo." -Enemies do not use hit scan, they have to actually hit you with their attack animation. If you're observant, and develop your character's speed a little, you can dodge any and *every* attack in the game, from any and *every* enemy. CONS -The game's power progression is busted. On normal difficulty, chapter 1 will probably kill you, chapter 2 is a challenge, chapter 3 is easy, and chapter 4 is just a joke. D3 has the same problem, but it's worse here. -Both games have a similar upgrade system via gem fragments, but in this game, it isn't available until chapter 3, so you'll be collecting a lot of useless gems for a while -You can't purchase or sell loot in this game. Instead, you can "donate" your unwanted loot in exchange for incremental rewards. So, if you want something specific like new boots, you'll just have to keep fighting until someone drops some -There are no side quests Conclusion: I hold the two games in about equal esteem. Give this one a shot.
