Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector

The game captures TT original quite nicely. We are finaly able to play with Primaris SM, though the selection of units is somewhat lacking - looking forward to expansions. Overall very solid WH40K title. As for data mining, it's a "feature" of Unity engine and all games using that engine collect anonymous usage data. You can download a software from Unity's page to prevent this. Developers can't disable that feature, so blaming them is irrational.

games we pay for shouldn't be data mining. That's crap.

THIS is what I wanted from sanctus reach (or any turnbased tactical wh40k game). And THIS is what I hoped DOW3 would have looked like. i I played 27h on normal, died 7+ times and was never bored. (cos the first tutorial maps are pretty enough to look at to entertain while nothing much happens). It's fantastic, go get it. Pros: - the graphics are great: detailed figure models, excellent lighting (watching your plasma bolt illuminate half the map as it flies towards exploding in some tyranid's chest never gets old). - controls are intuitive. - animations are almost on DOW level. - classic tactical gameplay as expected (xcom folks will have no issues). - varied enough mission design: assault, defend, siege, purge, clue hunting etc. - level up your troops, carry them on to the next mission, use hero abilities and even swap some weapons. - has almost all space marine units on the roster. - interesting enough story, albeit flawed in the setup. - unbelievably beautiful and spot on UI art (ALL wh40k games should look like that!) CONS: - needs more content! definitely more enemy factions, more map variation. - the map balance is hit and miss. there are epic maps with choke points, cover, bypasses, essential elevation and even blockerdoors to open, or not. fantastic. but there are also bland and empty maps. it's a weird 50:50 mix. - the voiceover is atrocious. none of these actors seem to have read the script before they recorded it and they have no idea whats going on. - the story has a problem with the setting (spoilerfree): it starts right after the devastation of Baal, which means the entire might of the imperium is right there, orbiting your mission zone planet. There is really no logical point in going on all these missions, cos your "faction" is essentially ultra overpowered from the getgo. If they would have done 1 extra step on the story and the map design, this would be perfect. even with limited content. Looking forward to whatever faction DLC will come

IF... you like the actual board game. Lemme put it the simplest way possible, this game is pretty much a virtual representation of the battles in real board games. That means that the stats are important... and so is time. A single turn can take forever in the larger unit amounts as the AI has to control each individual mob at a time and it shows you said movement. So suffice to say it can drag on. If you can get past that, it's actually a terrific game!

This is a throw back to traditional turn based strategy complimented by a complex and thoroughly vetted game model in PC and board games. The developer did a wonderful job living up to the license and should be commended. I am engrossed with the campaigns and spent more time here than any other game in the last few years . The strategy and planning against the AI is challenging at the default level. I look forward to expansion packs for the rest of the factions and happy to put more cash down for great content.
