Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon

Every classic game have rules. Like board games. Use your brain to achieve your goal in limited turns. That is main rule in this game. If you don’t like play by rules don’t complain after purchase. Do you complain during chess game for rules? „Why my runner can only move like this? I will give it only 3/5,” When you play board game alone there is no AI, there are only rules. This is not sandbox, open world or sim game. This is oldschool classic tactics turn base game where you have to think how to move your units to make to next level.

I was initially a little disappointed by this game, having the impression that it was a cheap Fantasy General clone in Warhammer 40k setting. In a sense, that's correct, but it HAS some value and it is a fun and challenging strategy with some great strategical deepness and a great Warhammer feeling. My only complaints are the weird difficulty settings: "easy" is so easy that you almost win accidently, hard is next to impossible. There are some AI problems, but all in all this is a good, not perfect strategy game. If you like Warhammer 40k and Fantasy General, you will have fun with this.

Takes everything that made “Panzer Corps” one of the most satisfying hex-based wargames of all time and artfully translates it into the Warhammer 40K universe with meticulous craftsmanship and loving attention to detail. Be warned, however, that it’s easy to get entirely lost for untold hours in the game’s finely honed environment and highly addictive, “just one more turn” dynamic.

I've played this game for so many years I can't remember when I started. Every game is different and you have lots of ways to "try something new" and see what the outcome would have been.

You should understand this game as a Panzer Corps low-effort clone set in the Warhammer universe. After playing 6-7 missions at next to the hardest level possible I couldn't fail to notice that AI seems somewhat passive compared to the Panzer Corps. After some investigation, I have discovered that enemy force consists of scripted units that shall move and attack and other units who shall just stand there and retaliate if you attack them first, but otherwise remain docile. Your primary task on the battlefield shall be to identify scripted units on each map and deal with them while avoiding docile ones as much as possible to avoid taking retaliation damage. The best way to do it is to try attacking out of enemy range or exploiting the unit's advantage (for example Ogryns are best used in close quarters and best avoided at range against enemy shooters). There is a tutorial in this game but much to my dismay it fails to explain some fundamental game mechanics, for example, "zone of control" is not mentioned a single time although it is present and influences the game. To add some sense of difficulty under these conditions the game places a tight time limit for accomplishing your objective. Given the 50 euro price for the game and DLCs, this is a borderline scam.
