Description
In 2097, life is discovered on Mars. When your mission of first contact becomes trapped by a cave-in, you must master the alien ecosystem to survive. Soon you stumble upon more than anyone expected, and with time running out, you will make a decision that determines the fate of a lost planet.

Waking Mars is a one-of-a-kind adventure in which you jet pack through subterranean Mars encountering a host of extraordinary alien lifeforms that operate as a living, breathing ecosystem. Learn and master the behaviors of these creatures to create ecosystems of your own design if you are to survive and discover the secrets of Mars’ past, in this unique exploration-focused free-form platformer.

Quarter To Three calls Waking Mars "surprisingly thoughtful, delightfully atmospheric, smartly written, carefully designed...it gradually unfolds its secrets without holding your hand." The TouchArcade Game of the Year 2013 and Apple's iPad Game of the Year Runner-Up has been lovingly updated for Windows and MacOS, including native mouse, keyboard, and gamepad controls, along with full support for high-resolution displays.

  • Explore an open-ended network of exotic caverns, discover long lost ruins, and decode mysterious signals.
  • Cultivate a vibrant, interconnected ecosystem of exotic plants and alien creatures.
  • Survive an unearthly world of strange creatures and hazardous terrain.

Perfect Exploration Game

If you are looking for an interesting exploration game then you have found the right one. The story is surprisingly interesting and fun. The entire atmosphere created in Waking Mars leaves you to want to keep playing and not stop. I have not played a ton of pure exploration games in the past, but this game has sure opened my eyes and I will be sure to check out more in the future. I bought this game in a bundled sale and I must say it was well worth it.

Great Platformer

I finished this game last night and I didn't want it to end. This was a great platformer game and it had a great scifi story to go with it. I loved it!

some frustrations, real ending at 100%

unique and mostly fun sci-fi puzzle platformer. plant seeds and create an ecosystem to go deeper and deeper and find out what lies beneath. or something, it's been a while. a few 'rooms' are on the really annoying side, so I didn't 100% them all, which I can take or leave anyway, good enough is good enough, except the real ending hides behind 100% completion here. always harsh and unnecessary, so I just youtubed it.

One of my Favourites

Great comfortable art style. I love that it is strongly exploration driven. Feels good getting each little task completed one step at a time. Slow and steady...peaceful

Absolute waste of money

While i am very fond of innovative platformers, innovative doesn't always mean entertaining. It starts off ok, you get immersed really fast, the learning phase will keep you hooked for a while. But as you play for an hour or two you realize the repetitiveness of this game and where it will bore you for the rest of the game, that starts dragging on for too long like a snot. Everything is the same since one point- get into a room, grind (seed plants until you get enough flora), move on. And grind part isn't neither entertaining, nor challenging. I guess you can enjoy this game if you have a fetish for discovering pictures of species invented by game developers, but if you are a normal gamer you will be bored. The "game" element of the game is very weak. At first i wanted to give the game 2/5 for trying to invent something new, but after realizing it costs 10 frigging dollars and is one of the costier games in here i decided to fully flame it- 1/5. Terrible game. This game would be only good if it were a half an hour/hour long free game. Definitely not worth the money at all.
