The game does indeed start promising and the story raises interest. But the problem is that the game repeats itself over and over again. You will enter a new cave, the barrier to the next cave will open only if a certain amount of biomass, aka plants, is detected and your job is to exploit the traits of different plant species in order to support the growth. This soon becomes boring, because cave after cave you basically do the same thing. Sure, there are other repetitive games out there, but while some of them deliver a "just chill an go with the stream" kind of relaxing experience, WM completely fails to do so.
This game is well combined Adventure-Simulation game. At first you might feel like playing platformer adventure with Sci-Fi taste, but more and more you explore, it becomes simulation like and thoughtful. Though this "simulation" part is not too difficult to go through, it's pretty logical and it actually feels like you are exploring the real Mars ecosystem. Also sounds help making environment realistic. I suppose you'd better to play the game itself rather than seeing screenshots.
If you like Sci-Fi stuff, Alien species, adventure game which you can encounter anything you've ever seen before, definitely worth playing.
Really this is one of those games that breaks some new ground. In all essence this is a puzzle game mixed in a bit with exploration/adventure. The premise is to 'grow' your way through numerous rooms in a large cavern complex with unique plant/animal like creatures which you must discover and learn about.
Overall I think this is one of the best games I've played in some time with my one complaint being that it is fairly short as it can easily be completed in an evening. Oh, and the voice acting is a bit horrendous...
PROS:
+ fun gameplay
+ nice UI & menu
+ cool puzzles
+ pretty visuals
+ decent narrative & story
+ 3 endings
CONS:
- rather short main story
- often repetitive gameplay
- couple of moments where the voice acting seems off
Comment:
I bought this hoping it would be something good and fun. And it was a correct choice, let me tell you why. The game is based on platormer gameplay where you fly around with a jet pack, you pick up various seeds and then plant organisms. These are different and there is actually a layer of research of these lifeforms which was quite interesting. Main point of almost each level is to gain most (or maximum) biomass in order to progress further. You do this while trying to balance the environment because all the different ogranisms want to kill each other. It was fun but did get very tedious and repetitive in some levels. Overall the visuals and art style are simple but pretty. You can see this looks like a flash game and it is also visible that this is a mobile game. But it's a good port and the narrative, story and gameplay are enjoyable. Also several endings are a plus (although I feel like the secret ending is a copy from Mission to Mars). Overall not the most memorable game ever but it's fun and relaxing. Recommended!
I played this for about half an hour before giving up on it. The gameplay mechanics are very repetetive and boring, since they seem to consist of nothing more than shooting pod A at thingymajig B to open a set of doors. Adding the akward dialogue and cheesy voiceacting, floaty controls and mediocre visuals, I couldn't endure another minute of it.
