The world is on the road to perdition and the fate of Midgard hangs in the balance. Vikings: Wolves of Midgard is a recommendable dungeon crawler, with fun and interesting enemies, a wide but not overwhelming array of player abilities, and an engaging combat system that demands that players remain on their toes and think carefully about what abilities to use and when. However, a few technical issues, and a repetitive structure prevent the game from being something for players to return to after they’ve completed the main story.

Is Vikings: Wolves of Midgard the kind of game that you can have a run at and finish in around the 12-15 hours it’ll take to finish its campaign? Absolutely. Just don’t expect it to be able to keep a grip on you once the end credits have thawed out.

Plays like Gauntlet Dark Legacy
Was kinda craving bad for that Gauntlet action but no longer have my OG Xbox. Enter this game. Plays a lot like it. Which is a great thing in my book. Noticed an odd quirk with contollers. My bionik vulcan wouldn't work right, the buttons didn't register. My 360 wireless controller worked fine though. Who knows. Also noticed when using the ultrwide resoltuon of 2560x1080, that certain menu elements didn't scale and got cut off. I think I'm gonna stick to regular 1080p for this one.

Awful mechanics
Rolling around none stop to each campfire with the occasional enemy to kill does not a good game make. Why ruin what could have been a nice ARPG with such tedious mechanics. I have no urge to continue.
