To become death in Venetica is a calling, fulfilled by a man of flesh and blood – equipped with special supernatural skills in order to be able to carry out the duties of the office. A new death is selected regularly by “Corpus”, a secret council. This time however Corpus really makes a wrong decision: The “new” death, Victor, turns out to be a crazed necromancer who manages to turn himself into an overpowering undead with seedy tricks and dark rituals and thus attains almost unlimited power in addition to immortality. As it is strictly forbidden for the chosen death to devote himself to necromancy, the committee revokes Victor’s nomination immediately and declares a new death in his stead without delay.

The power-hungry Victor however does not want to relinquish his position again. He continues to practice the dark arts in order to gather numerous dark and dangerous creatures and tainted souls from the underworld around him. He thus succeeds in eliminating the newly designated death and takes over his power for his own purposes. The effects on the world’s balance are calamitous and – should Victor be able to keep himself in power – its dark consequences are irreversible. Only a person who has the same mighty powers as Victor can prevent his prevailing and vent him his deserved punishment.

Scarlett, the daughter of the real death does not know anything about her ancestry and the hidden talents which slumber within her. She is immersed suddenly in this story due to the brutal attack on her home village and the tragic loss of Benedict, the love of her life. It is a story which she now begins to write herself, a story during the course of which she unleashes her capabilities, a story in which she tries to save Benedict from the world of the dead and a story in which she must protect the world of the living from the dark threat posed by Victor and his henchmen.

Still good despite the jank

I believe this game has a good story despite the executions. That's what made me chose to play the game despite the jank. Setting is good enough and mechanics really need some more polishing but it's still enough to go through with the game.

Fun Despite the Jank

A standard plot involving a magic Macguffin and a dead love interest as a motive set in a fictional Venice. Gameplay is rudamentary and doesn't evolve beyond timing your blows carefully after each swing of your sword/hammer/spear. Textures don't load in certain locations, spoken dialogue and subtitles often don't match and the occasional crash to desktop made this game frustrating at times. Despite its flaws it's worth a playthrough if you're a fan of games like fable.

Ambitious and youthful.

To be honest, I almost gave up twice throughout the game. It's not that I can't beat the technical factor, it's that I'm constantly confused by the poor map identification and quest guidance. Although the back to explore the process design law after a lot of comfort but still uncomfortable, to a certain extent, there is a wizard 1/2 beauty. If you have a certain amount of patience to play the game and can tolerate multiple black screen reading pictures is worth trying, if conditions occasionally with graphic guide to eat the best. There is not much to say about the story, the classic plot of the village in trouble, the protagonist taking revenge to accept the mission to fight the boss and overcome the difficulties and growth, generally can not find too much fault. RPG core gameplay in addition to the level did not understand how to operate the dispensing water function has almost no extra things, adding is also arbitrary will not affect the player's progress process. Characters learn skills by talking to different NPCS and using the points they earn from upgrades, but the lack of markers on the map makes Settings and missions that should be fun a lot of the time painful to perform. The hit judgment in combat is a bit weird, especially in boss battles. If you do not get the gist, it will become very painful, and it is not recommended to use a controller to play. It is recommended to consider purchasing at a discount One thing worth mentioning: Because the game is a total of few pictures, so in the overall style and three-dimensional structure of the design of each picture is very distinctive. At the same time, the map supporting the dungeon is also quite interesting, which should also attract passers-by to buy the selling point.

A Somewhat Dusty Hidden Gem

This game is janky and suffers from poor translation and an obvious lack of polish, but dang if I didn't play it all the way through. It's quite ambitious, and while the story isn't mind-blowingly original, the setting kind of is! There was an attempt here at something expansive and grand set in a condensed version of 17th century Venice. It's not developed to its full potential, but there's even some faction politics/guilds to ally with and questions about how people should be governed. If you are patient enough to work with it (and look up a walkthrough) this one will probably stay with you more than you suspect.
