Description

You are the Nomad — an elder vampire awakening from a century-long slumber, new to the modern nights. Trapped in your Blood is a stranger’s voice. This mysterious entity, a vampire detective known as Fabien, will be your guide to 21st-century Seattle. In sections of the game, you will explore the city through his eyes as you revisit a cold case from a hundred years ago that threatens undead and mortal society.

Hunt your way through a modern-night Seattle on the brink of an open supernatural war in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, where visceral vampire action meets a neo-noir murder mystery. Navigate the vampire Court of Seattle and its dark underbelly in this action RPG, realized by the BAFTA award-winning studio The Chinese Room.

You are the Monster
Blood sustains you and empowers your vampiric Disciplines. You’ll stalk and feed on the city’s population at night. Use your supernatural powers or raw persuasion on unsuspecting mortals to lure them into dark alleys and slake your Hunger. However, be cautious about breaking the Masquerade: revealing your true nature risks reprisals, starting with law enforcement and escalating from there. Remember, you are not the only creature that goes bump in the night.

Experience immersive, visceral combat that rewards various playstyles and approaches based on your choice of vampire clan. Will you engage in close combat with supernatural strength, attack from a distance with blood sorcery, or silently thin the herd like the apex predator you are? Your clan choice will support these playstyles and more.

A World of Darkness
Enter the World of Darkness and rise through vampire society or rail against it. Experience Seattle - a city full of alluring, dangerous characters and factions, not to mention the mortals at stake in the clash of powers beyond their knowing. In this sequel to the cult classic, your choices, plots, and schemes will determine the balance of power and what becomes of the city and its people.

Not a single piece of respect

This game doesn't have any single piece of respect for the legacy of the previous game. Character creation EXTREMELY limited, it's just some basic customization to a pre-built character and this break the immersion of the license so much. We warned Paradox about the character creation when they removed it, we said it was a very bad idea but they didn't listened. Voice acting is horrible and the exploration is soul-less. Introduction and first hours of the game not spectacular as the first game, just a simple tutorial of few minutes then the game start and the game is just.. sneak behind ennemy and skip boring cinematic/dialog I don't recommand and this game IS NOT A VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE

Unreal Engine game crashes

After spending about three hours with this game I can say that I was impressed by the visuals and the combat system (they're genuinely well-executed). The game features unlockable abilities that enhance combat, but acquiring them requires eliminating specific NPCs. Unfortunately, this mechanic isn’t clearly explained beyond some unique icon markers on the map, which can be confusing. [Update 10/25] After watching player videos it has come to my attention that later on in the game the blood resonance is explained with a dedicated quest. The problem here is that there are NPCs that display the resonance icon before this quest is presented. Unfortunately, my experience was cut short due to repeated crashes occurring at the same point in the game. Each time, a crash dump appeared, and I submitted detailed logs with notes. Despite my efforts, the issue persisted, making the game unplayable for me. I've since requested a refund. For reference, the game ran smoothly at 75fps on my setup (i7-10700K, RTX 4080 Super) at 4K resolution.

A cynical disgrace...

...to the 'Bloodlines' name. Do yourself a favour and get/play the 2004 original instead.

Just as I predicted.

Legacy sequels are doomed to fail either commercially or critically or both when published by a AAA studio like EA and Paradox. There are but few exceptions that managed to make it a success, but even those took years and years, maybe even with a few years of players testing the game, to make it a full fledged experience. This is just an unrealistic standard no one can strive for in the videogames industry. It takes resources, patience, respect to the source material and enough interest from fans able to back the entire project. A great example of such a success story is Baldur's Gate III, and it's a miracle they were still giving many updates after the game released. And here we are with Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Many people were looking forward to it, it came out almost literal decades after the first Bloodlines came to PC, Paradox Interactive Published the game and predictably, people tend to be disappointed and infuriated. I'm glad people see this game for what it is but also disappointed this many copies were already sold in the GOG store alone. At best we'll never see another entry again or someone with true passion and a solid vision would make a spin-off part 1.5. At worst they'll milk it for what it's worth. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done with the number 2, but that's how the market works nowadays. People see 2/Remake (looking at you, Final Fantasy) and interest within the game already skyrockets.

False advertisement

It has nothing to do with the first Bloodlines, and the Masquerade is more of an inconvenience they remember sometimes to reference. That leaves vampires, and yes: There are at least vampires. The world looks nice, and the music is actually great. Traversal is fun. Every thing else...bland to awful. Combat and the story fall in the first category, NPCs and the "quests" in the latter. It's a linear spectacle brawler without the spectacle. The most game A Chinese Room ever made, and their worst writing.
