Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™

I never believed in giving 5-stars on anything. It would mean that it is perfect with nothing it could be improved on. Yet, here I am, giving this game 5 stars. Why? Because it is perfect. Had this game been released in this current form back then, Troika would have been one of the largest CRPG developers on the scene now. Not Bioware, not CD Projeckt Red and definitely not Bethesda. This game should be what all RPGs now use as a benchmark. Choices that matter. Storylines that branches. Characters that are memorable and that you care for. Plots that are believable and logical. Player customization that is deep and varied with actual bearing on how you can approach the game. So, yes. I'm sorry to say that there is nothing good about this game. It is only great.

I own this game on that "other service" and got bad graphic bugs, lots of display errors. I saw it on sale here at GOG and remembered that GOG actually fixes games, so I gave it a try. Game On! Its night and day from steam's version. GOG applies the unofficial patch for you, the graphics were nice and clear (yes, they are dated graphics, but still not shabby) ... I am simply astounded by GOG's VtM version. Just buy the game and try it. I have to warn you that once you play it, anytime someone mentions it you will be reinstalling it and playing it again. Its like a curse. Replayability is insane for this game. I am very happy, its like GOG just gave me a present! Easy install, clean startup ... simply amazing.

Very atmospheric gothic gameplay with increasing difficulty. Extremely exciting story. There is even a tv series "embraced-clan of vampires". Play as nosferatu, turn yourself in a wolf as a gangrael, play an insane vampire or as beautiful toreador.

Played it a long time ago but lost the disc somewhere so I bought it again. My only gripe is that I have to shut off my anti-virus and firewall to play this. I use Avast and Comodo. Don't really understand this and hope there might be a fix in an update eventually but otherwise a great game! Works great on a surface pro 3 if anyone is wondering. :-)

This game is a mixed bag, I think-- it's good to go in understanding its limitations and not expecting an amazing gaming experience. Of course, make sure to get the unofficial patch, which fixes a bunch of problems with the base game. On the plus side, the game offers classes that are truly distinctive from one another and that fundamentally alter how you play the game. Particularly in the early portions, the world is extremely dynamic and open. There are some exceptional early areas. The story is solid if unspectacular. However, I found combat clunky and sometimes grind-y, and unfortunately the latter half of the game is much more combat-focused and less open (I assume this is because the developers were running out of money). So, worth checking out, but temper your expectations.
