Don't know why but don't like it
I am a big Fallout 1 & 2 and Metro franchise fan, so I had a lot of hopes for this game. I gave it 3 chances, longest one was for several hours. But no matter how much I've tried, game couldn't convince me in any way. Sorry.

Buy this game.
I'm just gonna say that this is an absolute steal at $6. Steal, as in it's a crime for it to be sold at this price. The reviews you've read basically say it all. It's an homage to good ole CRPG classics. The story is enjoyable and the villain is absolutely crazy. Mechanics are complex enough to be interesting and crafting caught my attention, which I usually find the be the most tedious aspect of games. Enjoy!!

Best game in recent years
UnderRail is with almost 240hours my 2nd most played game in galaxy. Finished it beginning this year without DLC and few weeks ago with DLC. Absolutely fantastic and the most fun I had with any game in the past 3 years I'd say. It always motivates you with deep and fun combat, character progression, atmospheric environments and dialogues. I'd describe it as combination of System Shock 2, Deus Ex and Fallout. Lots of big iconic names at once, I know. Mentioning System shock because of the environmental storytelling, leveling system (oddity) and Deus Ex because of the and player freedom. Fallout of course for the visual presentation and setting. One early quest takes you to an abandoned complex which has 3 (or 4?) floors. In one of those you have to retrieve an item from a corpse and robots are patrolling. On my 1st playthrough I managed to retrieve that item without being spotted. On the second playthrough I still opted for a hacking/lockpicking character but no stealth. So I made use of EMP-grenades and brute force. This kind of level/quest design is prevalent from beginning till end. Locations are varied and contain some of the creepiest places. Exploring may be very dangerous but also very rewarding. Especially with the (ingenious) odditiy sytem which I highly recommend so you try different approaches. Play this game, even if you couldn't care less for isometric RPGs (first Fallout, BG, Arcanum etc). UnderRail ain't easy but at least it's not unfair and most importantly it's motivating enough that you wanna keep going, even after a hard battering. Some negatives: - Not 100% balanced although no RPG is imo. A lot of builts are viable but after two playthroughs I fear that hacking/lockpicking is just too useful. Crafting skills are very fun and only with those you can get the best gear but it might put you too much on an disadvantage early game. Playing without psionic seems suicidal to me - Don't like shotguns Could rave about this game forever. Go get it
