Ultima™ Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams

The story that this game presented enchanted my 10 year old self. An amazing game and one that im not going to ruin the memory of by playing again. I fear it will not have aged well. *Spoiler* I remember being so moved by the Martian realising that in fact receiving a new body was not enough but rather the entire planet had been doomed, poisoned. Amazing stuff.

This was actually the first Ultima game I played, strange enough, back in 1992. After this, I sought out Ultima 6, then 4, then 7, Underworld 1, 7 part 2, 8 and [ugh] 9 back in the day. I didn't play the initial 3 or 5 or Underworld 2 [meh] until much, much later. Yes, the Ultima 6 interface is in full force here, which means a lot of fiddling with inventory and piles of stuff, but once you get used to that, you will find a fantastically creative adventure which will stick will you long after you play through it. If you have a problem, get a walk-through and get through the first hour or so [at which point you won't be hurting for oxygen or money too much]. If you like this, go ahead and buy 6 & 7 right away. 7 is a must have for any RPG fan, and 6 is wonderful as well, and you already know the interface!

Great game from the 90's but would have been nice if they removed the "hunt through manual" copy protection so I did not have to have the manual.

A classic spin off of Ultima, With big name talent behind this cerebral cousin the more pulpy of Savage Empire.
