Tyrian 2000

This was my first game. In a windows 95 pc. It was really incredible, and I was a child so I loved to be a carrot spaceship, shooting hotdogs. This game makes me remember when I was a child and give me the joy of having free time.

The very best space shooter ever made. No other scrolling space shooter game made today has as much going on. Whether you're under heavy fire on the screen, spending money on your ship upgrades, or finding hidden levels and side-quests, this is an incredibly rewarding Arcade-style game with 1p and 2p modes.

Tyrian is a fun little vertical shooter with a nice soundtrack, that I found difficult to stop playing as soon as I started. It can be controlled with just the mouse, and there are two types of single-player modes, an Arcade-style mode where the weapons and upgrades are dropped by the stuff you shoot, and a "full game" where you buy the weapons and upgrades yourself between the levels. There's also a plot, but I neither care about, nor see the point in having a plot in a sh'mup. The game can also take on an Christmas theme if you play it in December, which is kind of sweet, and best of all, it's free, so you have no reason to not be downloading and installing this 10 megabyte game as you read this. My only complaints are that the digitized sound effects are a bit bland, and there isn't a save feature for the story mode. Some of the bosses can also be extremely cheap, but otherwise, it's a fun game to play out of boredom.

bout time I could find a copy of this game. I loved this when I was younger. Now I can play again... and for free. Thanks gog.com. :-D

When I was young I used to play two great shooters : Raptor and Tyrian, The last is simply the most complete and original shooter I ever played, even japanese famous shooter never reach Tyrian 's quality ! Funny, hard enough, many modes, everything we want from a shooter !
