Tyranny - Bastard's Wound

I would like to say something good to this DLC until I came across a critical bug which lead to the result that I haven't been able to continue the primary quests related to the Bastard's Wound. It seems there are something wrong with the trigger points of teleportations in the abyss, which made my Reef-Talon escaped for now and highly likely forever. I checked some threads on the forum of Paradox, and discovered that the issue has been brought up since two years ago. OK then. There may be some good features in this DLC, but definitely I have lost the mood for it.

So, the DLC was kind of bad. The "puzzles" were simply an annoyance and the story I already forgot about again. But for everyone buying this in 2023 I just wanted to give this warning: - SPOILERS If you, like any normal person would, interact with the murals before you reach the lowest level and talk to "Wolf-talon-woman-whatever" it can (and did) trigger a bug where you can't progress the dialogue and the DLC quest remains unsolvable. No Patches as of March 2023.

As a DLC/expansion of the game, BW seems like a hotfix combined with an afterthought. Content, that expands on the main characters, does not even seem finished or thought through. The whole Bastard's Wound area, also seems pushed into the game, without consideration on its impact on the game's pace. It feels like the story's flow suddenly stops, the moment you enter the outside area, wherein you can clearly feel that this small pocket of the world has NO significance whatsoever on the rest of Tyranny's world. I would only recommend this to a fan of the game, who simply wants their playthroughs to be longer. If you do not get tired of the combat, or the idea of dungeon crawling in more old-wall areas, with even more of the same kinds of enemies you have already seen in the game, by all means, go nuts. Honestly, Obsidian really disappointed me with this addition to the game. I hope to one day to play through a new story in the world of Tyranny, but this expansion, does not scratch that itch. It actually only worsens the itchin'.

Bastard's Wound adds a new location with a multilevel dungeon and adds companion quest for three of the companions. The latter is the best addition the expansion provides. The new location is fine - if you liked the Oldwalls sections from the base game it is a more elaborate version of that. However, lack of unique enemies mean that it suffers from the very same issues the base game did - dull combat. There is quite a bit of ambition to the main quest behind Bastard's Wound, but game suffers from noticable design problems - quest cutting each other, forcing you to ally with certain side of a conflict without you making that choice, small quests which have a major bearing on the conclusion too easy to miss, if you wont backtrack to certain locations, which for all you know are completed. I would recommend picking it up if you are planing to play or replay Tyranny. Not worth returning to the game just for the new content, though.

The base game is really something. Couldn't recommend it enough even if rpg's often aren't my thing. But this? This DLC feels rushed, it is quite clearly incomplete, your forced into certain paths... I've barely scratched the surface of this DLC, barely made a few questsd, but now I can't even get to the old wall for the choices I have made. Should've just declared the bastards illegall from the start.
