Description
At the beginning of your epic adventure, a mercenary mission takes you to the far north - but you’re also following up a mysterious lead at the same time – the first clue you’ve been given since Kyra’s disappearance. You're shocked during a meeting with the delegates of a dark Brotherhood - your sister’s kidnappers are indeed after your family’s relic. Whether there’s any truth in your family being the chosen ones or not, the others obviously believe it - and if you ever want to see Kyra again, you’ll have to act swiftly. You are the only person able to unlock the secrets of a dead god's tomb, and all the forces in the land want your help to seize its power.

  • Includes the original Two Worlds along with two expansions - Tainted Blood and Curse of Souls
  • A vast and diverse world to explore, brought to life by the game's impressive visuals
  • A well-told and gripping story with an abundance of side quests

Bad First Impression

When I first heard of Two Worlds, it looked promising. It seemed that Oblivion's Graphics were fused with Gothic's gameplay. When I booted up the demo, this was not the case. What I saw was a world of disappointing gameplay and laughably bad grammar. Everything about the game seemed abysmal to me, and I couldn't even bring myself to play for 10 minutes before deleting it off my hard drive and drowning out the memory of this game with some strong whiskey. This was several years ago. Upon reading the reviews on this site, I decided (mostly out of boredom) to give this game another try, and I'm very glad I did. Whatever problems the game had seemed to be pretty much worked out. Yeah, the dialog is still the same, but after playing Star Wolves 2, I don't think bad voice acting and misspellings could ever measure up to that fiasco (if anyone else has played that game you most likely understand), and it, like SW2, does not ruin the experience of the game, at least for me anyway. So if you tried this game out a while back and dumped it in the trash, I'd recommend giving it another go, you might be surprised.

Really quite good.

This game is quirky and really quite fun. It is hard at first to stay alive. Save often. After an hour or 3 of play though the game really opens up. As others have said the cut scenes are either abysmal or quaint and which is a matter of opinion. But the game play itself, the quests and the items to find are all very fun and enjoyable. I find myself wanting to play "just a few more minutes" all the time and I can't think of better praise to bestow on a game.

These beasts look like my inlaws!

Shove weapons, into other weapons, into bad voice acting, bad glitchy as hell game. 10/10, would die by that bear again.

It's okay.

The title says all that needs saying. But I'll go ahead and go into detail. First, this game is fairly big. Not Morrowind big, but still a fair size. It has quite a few quests, though they aren't anything out of the ordinary for RPGs. There are factions you can side with, all needing your faith proven before you can be considered one of them. Really, the game has quite a bit of freedom, which I like. However, they did a soddy job on the tutorial. Teaches you things like: how to pull out your sword, click this to attack, and press this to search for loot. That's it. It's sink or swim with this one. Luckily you can download a manual with your purchase The graphics aren't very impressive, and there aren't many different types of enemies to fight. There are plenty of different weapons, armor, enhancements, etc. However, there is also mediocre character customization. I'm not usually one to get annoyed by this, but some might want to fully suit their character to how they want them to look. I couldn't care less. The story is very typical, if somewhat cliche. A sibling is captured and you must rescue her. Yay. I think you already did this quest, says my childhood. The voice acting is alright; there is a variety of voices, but none of them are outstanding in their performances. I don't really like the main characters voice and he sometimes says cheesy one-liners that sound like something The Postal Dude would say before starting a fight. All in all, not a bad way to kill a weekend. The scenery is beautiful, and as long as you don't mind a cliche plot and somewhat lacking controls and combat you should do alright.

Review from view of Mage

Do you want a be a powerful mage? No problem. The question is, why I rate it only 2 stars? Because the game is unbalanced. The magic system use cards spells. If some spell have more cards, it increase a power. But very very little. Also usage of spells is limited to 3 active spells (if I remember correctly). Magic is divided to 4 elemental schools and necromancy. Why game is unbalanced? Mage get few cards on start, and each card is underpowered. Even if they are 10 or more, the power of the cards is very small and you need a 100 cards of one spell to see diference. There is one special card which increase a power one of the magic school by percents. Access for those cards are later in game, and until you not collect enought cards, as mage you are nothing. Poor novice and then a god, nothing between. World is empty, except a enemies and chests which hold some items for make a money for buying a cards, there is nothing to do. There is no joy for exploring (of course, first steps are allways interesting but later, it become boring), because your progress is dependent on buying a cards (from mage guilds). That is another why a game is unbalanced.
