Enjoyable
This was an enjoyable 20 hours. However note that there is a bug in the GOG version in that many NPCs don't lip-synch with their speech (this has been discussed in the forum, and there is a file that fixes it but it has not been added by GOG yet). Also I did not get any cut scenes (intro, or ending), another known bug - however they were viewable in the C: games folder as wmv files. If you find the start of the game to be abrupt, it may be because you didn't see the cutscenes that explained things! The game itself has great graphics. I often just wandered off on foot or horseback to explore. I often found myself just enjoying the atmosphere: watching the sunset over the river, or stripping off to swim in the sea, or heading towards a tower seen on the horizon. Some people complain about the old-style language used by NPCs "Prithee, Sir... Mayhap..." etc. Actually I thought it added character, and the writing was generally very good. Each to his own. Overall I enjoyed my time with the game, alternately following the main quest, then just exploring for the hell of it. The bugs and occasional crashes didn't stop me playing and enjoying myself. The game ended just around the right time for me, not overstaying its welcome, and left me with a feeling of satisfaction.

A solid 3D action rpg
Pro: grand landscape to explore many locations many npcs many sidequests many items to collect ridiculous overpowerable skills and spells crafting system plus alchemy big sister to save Contra easy combat, as melee you can spam your enemies to death with your standart attack (left click) short main quest line game gets too easy too soon If you like Actionrpgs, you will like Two Worlds 1 for sure.

Takes a while to get used to
This game has its shortcomings that have been mentioned by others (voice acting and animations) and I must admit they almost prevented me from continuing to play the game. I started in medium and got my head handed to me. I restarted on easy and got used to the systems (combat, upgrading equipment, spells and alchemy) then it got too easy. So I started over again on medium. I am really enjoying this game now. You just have to gnash your teeth to level 10 and then things start getting fun, well at least for me. Note: The biggest thing that helped me to enjoy the game was to read the manual, go figure.
