Nearly Flawless Exploration
Exposition. How do you involve your audience in a story? In a game I believe step one is handing your audience the controls. You can flash a cinematic or make text on a screen, but in this medium we feel the game. If you can tell someone a story with their own hands then you've got 'em. Other reviewers have noted that this game has no "hand-holding". The game is in your hands and yours alone. Or, is it? I'd like to think as you explore the game and push your boundaries you start to feel the impressions left by the craftsman. Start to feel like someone is watching out for you. Someone has been down this path before. That's part of the genius here. The character of the game, the world, and everything outside of the fox you control, are trying to play with you. The fox in the manual is scarcely the same person as the one you manage. One is confident, happy, and combative. The other is awkward and uncertain. That's you. Wandering around. Trying to figure it all out. Don't worry, someone's got your back. So, bring your thinking cap and your lust for exploration! Grab those twitch dodge skills and watch your perspective. You are in for a treat.
