Description
Alan Bradley has finally perfected the technology to digitize people, which allows humans to enter the internal world of a computer. His program, "Ma3a," has AI sophisticated enough to store the entire gene code of a person and the mathematical equations necessary to transfer people back and forth between the physical and digital world.

However, fCon - Future Control Industries - has learned of Alan's research and is moving to take over the company. When Alan disappears mysteriously, finding him is up to Jet, his son. Jet uses his father's technology to enter the computer world and, while investigating his father's disappearance, discovers a sinister plot.

Four "primitive" weapons - disk, rod, ball, and mesh - are encountered in the computer world, though the disk is the only weapon that can be used both offensively and defensively. Jet will also ride light-cycles, both the classic cycle from the 1982 film and a new "experimental" update from designer Syd Mead (also responsible for the original light-cycle design).

More than worthy of its legacy!

Greetings Programs! If you are a fan of Tron, first person games which have plenty of shooting but also require a lot of thinking and planning, have ever dreamed of going into the Grid or speeding around on a lightcycle, you need this. At the mere click of a mouse on an icon, you can be beamed into Tron's world and enter a story that is definitely equal to the movie sequel of Tron. This game has an incredible atmosphere that recreates a world much like the first Tron movie, and lets you walk around in the world as you battle against enemies in the computer world. The voice acting is excellent and includes the voices of Alan and Yori/Laura from the original film, Bruce Boxleitner and Cindy Morgan. Boxleitner is playing Alan, and, as for Cindy, just play the game. I don't want to give away any spoilers. The graphics were amazing when the game was released, and they still look fantastic today. The controls are intuitive, and they can be customized if you want. The game also starts with an excellent tutorial to get you ready to exist in The Grid. Once you get through the tutorial, you will get so absorbed into the game world and the story, you will truly experience Tron in a new way. Of course there are lightcycles, recognizers, bits, and other Tron regulars, as well as new things to explore. Even if you have never seen Tron, the game is certainly well worth playing. I would recommend, however, watching the movie if you haven't for full effect. Enjoy your time in the Grid. End of line.

True sequel to Tron

I finished this game quite a while ago, so some facts may not be precise. This is not only a great game, but also a true continuation of original Tron. It expands everything shown in the movie by delivering more: different computers(including old mainframe of ENCOM!), network, viruses, users. Visual style also follows the original movie closely, but adds more variety (due to variety of environments). Music is awesome - as everything else, it closely follows and expands the original. Gameplay-wise Tron 2.0 is typical FPS game of the era with minimal RPG elements(you can upgrade your character by obtaining specific items, also you can equip various items(subroutines) including weapons and weapon upgrades). One of the most atmospheric things with subroutines is that available slots change every time you move to a different system. I definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes classic Tron movie.

Still solid game after all years

Bought this to replace my DVD release. The GOG version is old and buggy 1.030 which I noticed when the game did not award build points after completing "transport station" level. The game MUST be updated to 1.042 . The cumulative unofficial patch works fine, NOTE, updating renders save games unusable and the game must be started again. Five stars = I like to play thru again and again.

Not perfect , but interesting.

When GOG released Tron 2.0 I decided to dust off my old, original copy with the wonderful Killer App mod. I had not played the game since I bought it on 2003. As a "Good Old Game" Tron 2.0 is an interesting piece of work with some specially good ideas, like the subroutine system, which forces you to select which acquired skills do you want to use in each moment, and which skills do you want to upgrade. The artistic design is beautiful, even for today's standards. The art is faithful to the movies, not as a copy, but as an evolution. The game has some problems, too. Some areas of the first levels are incredibly hard until you get the disk, while the rest of the game feels unbalanced. The lightcycle mode, which was really funny on multiplayer, its incredibly annoying on the campaign, due to an overskilled AI that can make both the most quick and deadliest ambushes or the dumbest self-kill moves. Also the script seems just a sketch of a story. With some good ideas that should have been developed more thoroughly. The final boss fight seems out of place, like something designed for Return to Castle Wolfenstein instead of Tron. Besides these errors the game is worth a try. It's really funny, with some specially nice moments.

Tron, finally available.

I love this game. I don't know how many times I have replayed it. This is a world I would love to get back to in a new story. This is the one I consider the actual second episode of the Tron story. It was considered as such by Disney themselves, up until a certain director took it upon himself to publicly state otherwise. This story is much better too. Regardless... this (to me) is the real sequel to the movie, and nothing else. Although the game is quite old now, it have aged well. Especially since the world is actually intended to look old style. So it fits the theme as well. This is a real gem, one that Disney tried heavily to kill off once the new movie was in the works. But like me, most people enjoy this story better than the movie sequel. So Disney finally relented, and restored it. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have, and still am.
