Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is a platforming game of action, puzzles and adventure, and the sequel to the award winning Trine and Trine 2. Reunite with the familiar heroes - Pontius the Knight, Amadeus the Wizard and Zoya the Thief in an all-new adventure, now for the first time in full 3D!
Playable in single-player or in co-up with up to three players, both locally or online.
The Story
Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the Thief have slowly come to the conclusion that having their lives commandeered by a powerful magical artifact is not a desirable state of existence on a permanent basis.
The heroes try to return their extraordinary gifts to the Artifact called Trine, and so they meddle with powers beyond their understanding: Trine shatters and a heartless ancient sorcerer escapes. With only a broken artifact to guide them, the heroes must try and repair the damage they've caused... or the damage that might yet be done.
Online and Local Co-op - Up to three players can play online and local co-up. Any mix is possible (for example 2 local, 1 online) and you can switch from singleplayer to multiplayer and vice versa. Play with your friends and explore the secrets together!
The Lost Pages - The ultimate test to your skills, the Lost Pages feature the most incredible contraptions, character-driven design, and ridiculous puzzles. Are you skilled enough to unlock all the Lost Pages?
Soundtrack - Award-winning composer Ari Pulkkinen returns for an amazing fantasy soundtrack!
Fantastic Fantasy - Adventure through breathtakingly beautiful landscapes in an enchanting fairytale world, and for the first time ever explore the Trine world in a full 3D setting, allowing you to go check out all the nooks and crannies that have been so alluring in the past.
Full Language Support for English, French, German, and Spanish - The game features full language support for English, French, German, and Spanish (voice + subtitles on/off), and an additional number of languages for subtitles.
Me and two friends play alot of coop-games, SoM, Castle Crashers, Affordable Space Adventures and of couse, we played Trine.
First two games were really good and challenging on hardest difficulty.
The third one was boring... so boring, that we didn't even finish the few hours it apparently lasts.
The third dimension isn't implemented well, the new puzzles feel heartless and overall, the world and the gameplay mechanics don't feel polished at all.
Almost like the developers had no clue of what to do with this new 3D-enviroment.
If you haven't played Trine 1 or 2, get one of those. If you already completed those two, look somewwhere else, because this game isn't worth your time or money.
A lot of people seemed to have problems with the game, but my opinion is very different. I loved the new direction of 3D game. We played it in coop in 3. We encountered a few bugs (which is more than other episodes of trine) but not too many, and maybe only once or twice we had to reload. I really loved the 3d combat, especially the final boss!
Sure there's some jankyness to the physics and there are some problems with the depth (you can fall of platforms in front or in the back), but the game is a lot of fun and if you liked Trine 2 the 3d really brings more depth – in gameplay.
If you bought the bundle and liked the previous games, try it!
The game starts quite nicely. Colorful world, pretty graphics, funny protagonists. But it becomes quickly apparent that it is unpolished. The jump into 3D was a very bad decision - especially with the imprecise controls. The protagonists lost some of their abilities from the previous games and the game focuses more on battles and less on puzzles.
But all that doesn't make the game bad. The controls make it mediocre, but still somewhat enjoyable, once you got the hang of them. And that's when the game ends. Abruptly. The devs ran out of money and just published the incomplete work they had at that point. So, in scope this 'game' is just a tech demo for an ill advised 3D sequel to two awesome 2D games.
Advice: if you are a fan of the previous two Trine games, replay them instead. This game won't provide any resolution of the story whatsoever. If you don't know the previous games, play them instead. And if you didn't like the previous games, you will surely hate this one. Only get this if you absolutely want to get everything related to Trine or if you have too much money and don't mind spending money on a two hour demo.
