Join Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight and Zoya the Thief in their adventure full of friendship, magic, and betrayal.
Trine 2: Complete Story fully integrates the Goblin Menace expansion campaign and the all-new unlockable Dwarven Caverns level into one mighty fairytale.
Complete Story edition features the all-new unlockable Dwarven Caverns level that takes our heroes on a journey through deep and dark lava-filled tunnels resonating with ancient legends.
20 levels chock-full of adventure, physics-based puzzles, hazards, enemies and contraptions.
3 Heroes – Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight and Zoya the Thief, each with their own skills – and personalities charming and otherwise.
Travel through beautiful vistas and environments (sometimes using extremely unreliable methods of transportation), including a castle by the treacherous sea, a burning desert, snowy ice mountains, all the way to the insides of a giant worm.
Another two step forward, Trine First was good, but that game is more of that, we have more challenge logical and arcade, better graphic and level design . Also game is longer that T1 simply everything you could expect from good continuation.
I thought the first one was pretty great till I played this one (although the first one is still great, this one is just more so). Runs great on my "medium" computer. Looks fantastic and adds new elements such as wind and rain. The environments appear very alive and many times it looks like I should go "up or down" as opposed to just "left and right". Being able to reset the skills and try different ones to solve situations is a great idea. Nice that it is also clean and light-hearted, so much better than constant "dark" games. All in all a very fun game that sucks you into the Trine world.
The game looks great, plays great, and I had a great time. I also enjoyed replaying the levels and trying to 100% or find different solutions.
One thing I wish I'd known was that achievements are broken (do not unlock at all) in the GOG version, and evidently there are no plans to update the build to fix this.
In times when fast and reflex-based platformers rule the market like Celeste and Hollow Knight, it's fun to encounter a platformer which lets you lay back a little and simply enjoy the great atmosphere it offers. And this is the main reason I enjoyed this game - atmosphere. Like a children's quality storybook which both kids and adults can enjoy, helping pure-hearted heroes to overcome obstacles and battle classic monsters in a beautiful, classic fantasy setting just gives you these "feel good" vibes.
The game is fun, the puzzles are challenging yet rarely frustrating (unless you intend to collect every gem), and it feels more varied and alive than Trine 1 (which was good as well).
I did run into some technical issues, despite having a very powerful PC (no sound at all and freezing screen upon exit, unless verifying game's files multiple times before each launch), and that's why I give it "only" 4/5. Recommended!
Interesting and shortlived puzzle gameplay with a beautiful fairytale art-style wrapped in a fittingly comfy n cliche fantasy story. No aspect of the game seems to be outstanding by itself, but the well attuned composition of it all very much makes it so! IMHO the best of the series. I'd say a must for every fan of fairytale atmosphere and/or casual puzzle games, and maybe even a nice twist for everyone else.
