Recommended, but not as good as Bastion
It's hard not to make the comparison since this game shares a lot of the same individual people who contributed to Bastion. When you do make the comparison, Transistor falls just a tad short of Bastion in my opinion. The story is a bit more jumbled and doesn't have the appeal and agency of Bastion. The music is a bit more ambient and doesn't stand out as much as the excellent soundtrack in Bastion. The narrator voice from Bastion is back, and he doesn't really have an interesting script to read. He mostly just makes short witty comments about the situations the main character finds herself in, and doesn't expand on the lore/characters as much as the narrator did in Bastion. Combat is pretty much objectively better in Transistor than it is in Bastion. It is an interesting real time combat system with slottable and upgradeable skills, and it also has a time pause mechanic where you can plan your moves safely to be executed immediately after the pause. It is still a very good game but if, like me, you wanted something as good as/even better than Bastion, you might end up a bit disappointed.
