Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft

Buying them on sale and playing them for a while: The old trilogy has been masterly restored with a lot of passion. The good and the bad aspects of the original games are all still here in full glory. They even added an option for updated controls, which was a good idea on paper, but with these you can't even get the first secret of the first game because you can't do a backwards jump anymore. So I played with the old tank controls, like back in the day. But then they nullified every good will and intention and censored it for modern audiences, what is always unforgivable, especially for gamers like me, who nowadays can't buy half of all steam games in their country anymore, the censorship of old games has to stop hard and fast. I won't support the ME 1-3 and the SH2 remakes for the same reason. For TR 1-3, only the Mods are the real heroes of the story. Furthermore, it's April 2025 now and some of the achievements are still broken.

I have been a Tomb Raider fan since 1996, and I DO love these remasters. My only real gripe is the "Modern Controls" actually make the game WORSE! They lack the basic necessary functions to navigate many of the puzzles and traps. And that could have been mitigated simply by making hop-backs, backflips, and walking backwards possible. As frustrating as "Tank Controls" can be, at least they were designed for this game's grid-structure. IDK why they bothered with the modern controls if they weren't even going to be compatible with the game's design. For that reason it gets a star off. Save yourself the hassle and just keep Tank Controls on.

Held on buying this untill sthis 50% off price tag. I thought it was just better textures and that it could run on modern hardware. Was very suprised on the product when i started playing. The modern controls is really great, the texture, lightning and new models (not only the character models) all look great and dont take away anything from the old games. Would had been worth it full prce, but the screenshots and description did not do the game justice.

A absoulutley fantastic and faithful update to 3 classic games. Even though those people over at Crystal Dynamics just HAD to try and crap all over it by inserting a trigger warning thats absoultley hypocritical of themselves but on the whole just ridiculously obtuse. Crystal Dynamics had nothing to do with this game; at all. Shouldnt even have their name on it. Embracer needs to go head and sink that battleship. What theve done to this character and her story is just appauling and these great remasters just remind you of that fact! The hired actual real fans for this remaster to help ; thats awesome. I say long live Lara Croft; one day someone will bring you back for a brand new adventure that will be a testiment and compliment to the IPs original plot and art, until then we have these absolute gems!

I have started playing Tomb Raider when I was just four years old. It obviously took me years before I started playing actual levels and not only Croft Manor. Back in the 90s and early 2000s when I played as Lara, I always wished we would get graphics like in the cutscenes. I have replayed every game from Angel of Darkness to the most current Shadow of the Tomb Raider but I never came back to the original games due to the now pretty bad graphics. And what can I say, I absolutely love the games. I finally have a Lara model in my beloved old games that comes close to the cutscene model. I tried the modern controls for a minute but then just switched to tanks and using those was like riding a bike for me. As a fan, I can't stress enough how happy those remasters make me and you can see how this came was remastered by fans who love and cherish the source material. They have include every feature I was hoping for, including a button to just toggle between old and new graphics. If you played these games in the 90s you'll love the remasters. If you are new to the games, these are games originally made almost 30 years ago so don't expect it to feel like modern games, since it's a remasters, not a remake. I hope aspyr will also remaster and Last Revelation and Chronicles because they seem to know what they are doing.
