A solid expansion - totally worth it for you can nostalgically go back in time. The gameplay is the same, no major changes but hey - do we actually need them? I totally recommend TQ for everyone and this expansion can be a good excuse for launhcing the game.
Titan Quest is one of very few games that I have nearly always had installed since I first bought it. I have re-purchased it several times (Steam, GOG) over the years along with Immortal Throne. The release of the Anniversary Edition was a welcome surprise, so too was Ragnarok. I am glad that even after all of this time there is enough interest to add content.
Ragnarok is not as good in many ways as the base game or Immortal Throne. The art, story, voice acting, levels, enemies, and general polish are not on par with the previous installments. That said, they are not terrible either. I am happy to have more to explore in a game that I very much enjoy playing.
Some of the quests seem poorly designed. Quest indicators above npc's often did not work, there were greyed out indicators even though it was necessary to speak to them to advance the quest. The descriptions were often very vague and gave little indication as to what needed to be done next. I had the items to complete several of them before I had encountered the quest-giver that required them, those dialogs were handled poorly. One quest I was not able to complete at all due to a part that I could not find even having cleared the area several times. I am hopeful that these issues, along with some performance and path-finding problems, will be addressed in a future patch.
On the whole I am happy with my purchase.
No fanboy review here, not a real review either.
Call me a thankboy :) Over last few years THQ Nordic polished the game, with help of fan(patches) and continuned further support. Owners of TQ and IT got the Anniversary Edition for free and it has been on huuuge sale many times, giving everyone a great opportunity to get the AE.
I'm to busy playing games but I insta bought this one to show my appreciation of THQ to bring this game back to life. It's an old favourite of mine.
Ok and I also bought it on Steam as well, which makes me a little fanboyish :) I simply like companies that fix a game without asking nothing in return. If you like it too, here's your chance to thank them and get new content!
I'm a fan of Titan quest, but it seems like this expansion was just thrown together at the last minute. The side quests are so spread apart they leave you wondering if you already past them by. In most cases the bright yellow ! doesnt reset after you go back to claim a quest, and in some cases to finish a quest there wont be a ! at all. Thats if your quest doesnt break all together mind you... There are a ton of bugs in this expansion... so if you were hoping for a pollished game... or even a half pollished game... this isnt it. Ranged staff attacks for your caster you will find yourself moving around quite a bit just so its not hitting the ground two feet from your character. On the plus side of things... being able to start out at 40 is kinda nice.. It allows you to test some builds if you are wanting to play through legendary. The new class is a nice change... But all in all i really dont think it was worth the $20, save your money for when it drops down to $3...
Never ever expected to see some more content for this classic and beloved hack and slay
I'm almost through with Chapter 5 on normal with a Dream-Huntress. It brings back memories about dozens of chars I brought to max level.
It's ok so far but several little problems came to my mind so I'm not that conviced the way I would like to be
Lags: Major issues with lags, sometimes about half a minute or more (haven't had them on AE Version)
AI: It isnt very competetive. Could be a lot harder
Area: I'm german, so I was happy to see some areas from my country, but I get the feeling, that the first part of chapter 5 goes on and on. A lot of repetetive areas, enemies and then it just starts all over again. Almost no bosses. No real challenges. Boring as hell
NOT A SINGLE ITEM from ragnarök. Every rare item I found so far was from AE Version
Found no clues to enhance my legendaries or whatever
