Enter the Timberman universe! Enjoy the retro vibe of a 2D platformer with a classic 16-bit pixel art aesthetic.
Follow the lumberjack's story and join him on a rescue mission to help his bear friend reunite with the family. Challenge Evil Corp not only to save friends but also the entire forest from the hands of industrialization.
Fly on your axe to make progress, use it to chop wood, build bridges, and solve mini puzzles. Carve your way through three colorfully and yet deadly worlds, beat dozens of levels, and face three unique bosses in epic battles. Play in a single-player story mode or take a friend on an adventure in a 2-player co-op mode.
Remember: To be a real hero, you won't need much - being a big-hearted lumberjack equipped with an axe is more than enough.
Please note that you need a controller to play this game in local cooperation.
Features:
Single-player and 2 player co-op mode.
Engaging combo fighting system.
Unique platform game mechanics.
Shot projectiles using axe or boomerang.
Mini-puzzles: chop and gather wood to construct bridges.
This is one of those games that can easily pass you by without noticing because the cover art looks a bit babyish and somewhat dated, but the game is actually really great! It's a solid platformer that reminds me of the classics from the Apogee era. I've only managed to play through the first stage so far, but I've really been enjoying the experience. Well worth picking up for the price!
For a $2 game, it's a very good game. A simple "pick-and-play" game like in the SNES days. You can even play it with two players simultaneously (co-op mode)! The graphics do the job and the music is OK. Controls are pretty good, but there's no button remapping possible.
The game is extremely short: around 3 hours to finish it. I advise you to choose the "hard" mode because the "normal" mode is very easy.
It's a bit sad that the developers didn't invest a little more time to refine the game further. Very little variety of enemies, the various level designs are overall a bit dull/boring and the map on which you select a level looks very cheaply made. But regardless, I had a good time during the 3 hours that the game lasted.
A really charming platformer with clever level building. I finished the first 5 levels and I expect the same quality and pleasure for the 10th remaining levels! The only reason I’m not giving five stars: If you quit the game you’re loosing the lifes you have collected and starting again with only 3. If you like old school with modern design platform games grab it without second thought.
I recommend controller with PlayStation or Xbox design buttons for better experience.
