Okay game worth only discounted price
There's too many grievances that tip a recommndation to a hesitant referral. A 10% improvement would make it a good game but now it's only okay. I had to play the game in several sittings. I bought it at A$1.89 and it is well worth the price but I wouldn't have paid much more. The game is criminally short: only 15 levels including bosses. The game is best played at a medium pace as rushing through does not help with any of the mechanics. GOOD Pleasing graphics and animations, including the cutscenes and GUI. Allows 2 player coop but I never used it. I adore the ability to collect items and flick switches with your ranged attack. Also, you have a slight "magnet", so even if items get lodged in walls, you often can get them by attacking. MID The game is low on story but it doesn't need it. The difficulty is odd. The game is quite generous with lives but you only get 4 health that doesn't get replenished (except with coin collection & death). The level design is a bit disjointed but a solid 4/5. The game goes from level to level without prompting. This is good for playing progression but makes quitting or level select an annoyance. BAD If the controls/movement were tighter, it would imporve things immensley. The glide mechanic feels shunted when starting and moves at a sharper decline than I'm used to. Invincibility frames last a few milliseconds, making it very easy to lose a lot of health at once. The combat system is awkward. It seems to prefer ranged attacks. Though you can pull off combos, they rarely feel satisfying as enemies get knocked back or fight back too quickly. The game introduces trees than can be felled early on but makes no indication as to which trees can be felled or not. I couldn't get my gamepad to work with the game. You can't rebind the keys and I dislike the selection of default keys. The game can be buggy at times. I especially noticed it when going through a spike progression as said progression did not sync up and I died a few times.
