Through the Woods

I must say I've chosen the game because I like the visuals and horror genre. I was surprised it was experience drove by narration very much in vein of Firewatch or Among the Sleep and it was interesting in terms of writing and protagonist's acting. The sound design in this game is really amazing and actually I was really scared several times playing this game in the dark living room alone. I must say using Norse mythology in this fashion was something refreshing and I look forward for more games from this developer.

I really like the so called "walking simulators" like "What remains of Edith Finch" or "The Vanishing of Ethan Carter", but this one here is not a good one. After 20-30 minutes the game gets boring and partly frustrating, because sometimes it´s really difficult to find the way (level design is bad). The story is mediocre, have seen better ones before. I bought this in the sales and I think it isn´t worth the price. Don´t buy it for full price. Buy the other aforementioned games instead or try "Soma" (fantastic game).

This was a fun game. It was fairly short, which I didn't mind. The gameplay was great, and the atmosphere that was developed was fantastic. I love games that have minimal combat but rather push exploration with special encounters, and that's what this game delivers. My only big complaint about this game is that some of the voice acting is not that great... (Yeah, I'm specifically thinking about the boy...) It almost ruined the feel of realism that the game provided. Other than that, I think the rest of the acting was great. My second biggest complaint was that supposedly there are a number of mythical creatures the game randomly puts you through encounters with... I got the same creature twice in a row, which really shouldn't have happened, but oh well. The story was great, and I was surprised by the ending. I think that overall the game could have done a better job at randomizing its enemies, but I still had a blast.

I bought this game because I have started working for a Norwegian company and wanted to pick up some words! Totally worth the money I have paid for it. A solid horror experience with interesting story and characters. Good game for a cold winter evening.
