Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

I really like card games, loved the gwent mechanics in the W3. However the game is played a bit differently here, it is more than satisfying. Especially that the actual 3-round combat is scarce and mostly you encounter a fight with some kind of a twist. That is amazing, espeially that the game takes a few hours to finish. Storywise, I love it, I like the main character, the decisions she makes, the cosnequences. Party members are interesting and likeable. Graphics is pretty, I really liked the cell shading type visuals. Do I recommend the game to everybody? Rather not, It's a game for the Witcher fans (a must), card and puzzle games with story. Is it a game for an rgp fan? Rather not - the progression system is awkward and not really satisfying - feels sometimes as if you even don't invest gathered resources , that would not make any difference at all. Still at it's core - as a cad game it is fun to play, as a narative, it is interensting (although sometimes inconsistent), the grafics feels done right and with a lot of heart put into it. The reason for the 4 star rating is in the topic. When you get to this puzzle, you will probably understand.

Criminally overlooked if not underrated game that may have given people the wrong impression before release. Come for the cards and the Witcher tie-in, but stay for the story that puts many RPGs to shame and outstanding soundtrack. This leads to some failings like lower difficulty putting a damper on actually tweaking your decks and strategies alike, though. A 25+ hour narrative that manages to shine a light on how a certain Witcher got his title and what a barely name-dropped queen did to restore her kingdom presented in an absolutely worthwhile package as you take adventuring steps through plentiful CYOA scenarios and puzzles galore in place of traditional Gwent matches. Potentially even guide you to standalone Gwent itself? Makes you wish we could get more Witcher Tales in the future...

I've put in 40 hours and I still have the feeling that i'm not even close to the ending. I'm a completionist, so I've played every single bit of this game. My gosh this is long.. But not too long, because it is very easy to stop and pick it up after a while. Very good voice acting and fun gameplay. Sometimes the standard battles get a bit dull, because I apply the same tactics to win every single time. But the puzzles and story battles are great and unique. Heavily recommended if you like card games or good stories.

I liked the game a lot. Thronebreaaker is an RPG, where the battles are card games and your army is the card deck. There are regular battles and puzzles. The story is surprisingly well written for a card game (even for other rpg games). You can make decisions that have an influence on the story and your card deck. My only complaint is the ending. It felt like it didn't get the same love as the previous scenes of the game (the whole playtime is about 50h).

I understand that this game may get overlooked by people that think it's just a card game well I assure you it is much more than that, it is a great fun rpg with battles that are card based. You also have fun puzzle's and great story that sucks you in and keeps you riveted , you have choices that effect the story line with different endings depending on the choices you make. The graphics are in a pretty art style and the voice acting is great , If you like gwent or card games , if you like rpg's or story rich games then you'll like Thronebreaker . It is on sale right now I would highly reccomend it.
