Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

I was not expecting so much Gwent puzzle solving, I had been hoping for more straight up Gwent without the need to, at some points, look up Youtube videos of the exact sequence I needed to play my cards in to meet the requirements of a battle. I'm sure a lot of people are fine with that, but I enjoy playing Gwent as is, so I was hoping more for a game with a good story intersperced with Gwent matchs, not where I would get frustrated because I had specific rules imposed upon me that I needed to solve. Granted, it's not every match that is like a puzzle, but I found far too many of them to be like that.

I loved everything about this game, the story, the athmosphere, the sountrack and the voice acting. What's great about this game, is the "easter eggs" they put in. I won't spoil it. So, good luck finding them! They aren't hard to be found. Like in the Witcher series, you will have to pick some choices. They do matter, not only for the ending, but for your army morale, and your character. The game is really easy, so you don't have to be a gwent expert to play it, trust me, I really suck at Gwent (multiplayer). As for the puzzles, if you don't want to bother with them, just watch a video on YouTube, they are already resolved. So, if you love to play Gwent and you are looking for a good story, this game is for you! I wish that we could get a DLC for it, playing as Nilfgaard. Who knows... .

nothing special. Basically a lot of scripted Gwent matches with a bit of story around it. Found it quite boring after very little time and it's generally very slow paced. You don't get punished for losing and it feels like kind of a grind. Get it in sale if you really, really like Gwent

The gwent aspect (playing the actual card game) is really really good. What is bad about this game is the resource hunting and management. Having to move slowly around a very large map to collect resources and do missions is not fun. What would be preferable is to have a node by node system ( like in Faster than Light (FtL)). Overall, this game has great game play, great story. However, poor and tedious resource collection makes this game imperfect. Buy it if you like card games and have the time and paitence for the map exploration component.

This is criminally underrated gem. This game is a great journey though the world of the Witcher. The focus on characters not tied to the previous titles is a fantastic world building opportunity that CD Projekt Red take full advantage of. The story told, the choices to be made and the characters you meet make this a must for fans of RPG's. Do not be put off by the card game element . Loved this game and i wished they would make more like it.
