I sunk in it!

At first I was sceptical about this game. Even though I loved Gwent in W3 I never fell in love with Gwent "Gwent". But then again I absolutetly adore the world of The Witcher, both in books and games. So I decided to try. And I was not let down. The graphics are amazing, the music brings so much depth and the voiceovers are perfect. Then's the Story. I mean I knew a bit of it from the books but this perspective is so fresh and different. When playing I was totally immersed, the world sucked me in. The battles weren't tiring and on the lowest difficulty you can omit them altogether (which I find a hefty tool for "gwent illiterates" to enjoy the game). The game ran smoothly on my laptop, only dropping frame rates when I alt-tabbed to respond to emails while playing. I only have one issue with all of it - the save system. The game saves automatically and you can't have a save "hidden" to go back to it. I guess it's a tool to feel the weigh of the decisions you're making (and there are so many!) but at times it seemed too harsh. I highly recommend getting the experience. I couldn't stop playing until I finished (which took me round 2 hrs).

为什么gog版没有中文啊……

游戏本身很棒,可是明明steam上都有中文的,为什么gog上反而没有呢_(:з)∠)_ Overall the game is great. But please add Chinese translation to the game. The steam version has Chinese translation but I bought the game on GOG just to support you...

Interesting, beautiful but UNPLAYABLE

Really good game idea. I am a fun of the Witcher 3 and bought this game just to support CDPR. Nevertheless, I have found this game quite interesting, spectacular and funny. I also play Gwent Online so I was quite familiar with the gameplay from the start. Unfortunately, this game is totally unplayable ATM even on PC. 5 hours played, the very beginning, the first chapter, the first several battles. SO MANY BUGS. It is no way to put this into words. I have never expected such unfinished product from CDPR. Even in the first stones battle the scene was stuck on the opponent's pass move. IDK how it is ever possible but it seems that the game was not bugchecked at all. I have faced with more than 15 stuck bugs during the battles and it is quite annoying to close the game, load it again, start the battle, and get it stuck again and close the game and load it again... and so on and so on. I have already sent several bug reports to CDPR. But today I have just pissed off when during the first screen loading the game was suddenly closed without any error messages and on the next start during the battle with Nilfgaard's emissar it was stuck again. Sorry, CDPR, but this is an obvious flaw and spit in the face of fans.

Crippling technical downfalls

A story-driven RPG that revolves around the cardplaying elements of Gwent. The experience I had in my unfinished game was filled with game hangups (feezing, usually during a loading screen). I overlooked many of them (up until ~40 hours play time), in the hope that they would be rectified in a patch or later on in the game to no avail. These usually happened after a long and difficult battle, to which the game would not save and I was forced to do the battle again, so I turned down the difficulty to try to hurry through the story, but the persistence made the game too frustrating to finish, so I watched the rest on YouTube. The art of the cards is incredible, along with the sounds and music. Very well done and immersive, upholding the expectation of The Witcher universe. The cell-shaded style of the gameplay was also unique and fit very well, and the animations are fluid. The story is filled with tough moral choices and is presented in an excellent way. The RPG elements are on a large scale; manage your camp and army and upgrade your soldiers (cards) and their abilities to suit your playstyle. I played Gwent first and purchased this game after finding that I really enjoyed it, as well as the immersive and narrative world of The Witcher as a whole. I have played all of The Witcher games and read through most of the books in the series. It is unfortunate that I ran into this problem without an apparent fix, as many other players appear to as well. I was really enjoying this game and progressed ~75% through but could not tolerate the setbacks anymore. Had this problem been less frequent or fixed entirely, I would have rated this game 5/5. Seemingly more people are not experiencing this problem than others, but I recommend to wait for a sale in case you risk this experience as well. I would like to finish by saying that I really like CD PROJEKT RED and this game, and I want to support them fully, but I am not sure of the cause of this or how to fix.

Sorely dissapointing

After playing a bit of Gwent, I was keen to enjoy some adventure using the same mechanics, and Thronebreaker looked to be a beautifully crafted game. From the start it racked up one disappointment after another. The efforts to create a beautiful rendering of the world of the witcher was overwhelmed by sluggish controls and bad game design. The UI is outright frustrating. CDPR has experience making a polished one in Gwent, but somehow it's just terrible in Thronebreaker. Interactions are slow. When you repeat battles (which you will need to do, a lot, as some rely on simply drawing the right cards to start with) characters repeat their lines (fun on the first go, but when you've heard them repeat themslves for the 10th time it's tempting to put your laptop through the window). Exploration in the game is rather tedious, involving simply walking over every possible inch of ground to find the 'secrets' (boring wood/gold items lying on the floor), and infuriating when you reach the end of a chapter, to be told you have missed some items. Great, time to go back and find them. Half an hour later, with nothing turning up, the internet kindly informs you that actually you can't even get those items unless you approached some of the scenarios in exactly the right way. Sadly, they could have fixed many of these frustations with barely hours of extra effort put in to development, which indicates that someone just doesn't care, and this was rushed for a quick cash grab using the IP. This stinks of a game without much thought put in to it, and very little quality assessment done. It feels rushed, irritating, and tarnishes the reputation of CDPR for me. It feels like a job to finish it, merely to pick up some of the collectibls for Gwent. And in turn, with this game being a disaster, it demeans Gwent and every other CDPR game in turn. Outright stupid business decision to not put more effort in to this one. I am sorely tempted to go elsewhere.
