Amazing storytelling

I've played this game for dozens of hours now and I must say the storytelling is superb, such as the voice acting and the music. The RPG part of the game was also very fun as it made you realy think about the choices you have to make and sometimes it even made me feel a little bad when I made a 'wrong' choice. For this reason I've finished the game twice, because I was just curious what would happen if I made a different choice. But I have to say, I did expect the game to be a bit different. I thoroughly enjoyed my whole playtrough but it could be a lot better, because the card game based on the Gwent multiplayer game was a bit lackluster. I knew the card game woudn't be the same as in The Witcher 3 because I've seen some beta Gwent footage, but it seems they've changed it completely since then (only two rows of cards instead of three and much more..., but that does not necessarily have to be bad). The biggest drawback for me where the easy fights and most battles, the main story battles especially, are just one round which does not benefit the tactical part. In most scenarios you can just use the same card deck over and over again without real struggle (I did read they made the fights a little harder in their latest patch, but I haven't tested it myself.) The 'puzzle' fights on the other hand, I did enjoy a lot more. With these fights you will only get a specific amount of cards with their own abilities with which you then have to find the right order to place and use them. After all it was definitely worth my time and I would recommend this game to anybody who is interested in a great story. tl;dr superb storytelling, voice acting and music. Card gameplay is a bit lackluster.

A delightful card RPG

I was looking for a good card RPG for a long time. With a story and RPG elements, like Ehertlords 2 or old MTG. And now I found it. Visual presentation is great. Music and voice acting is on the same level as in Witcher games. The main story is pretty good, even though it felt like the dev's main focus were side stories. Which are really great and shows the believable world with believable people and situation. If you played Witcher game series or read the books you will be happy. The game is huge. I've spent almost 70 hours on it. There's a ton of quests, choices, puzzles and such. Still there are two downsides. First one is that there not enough, well Gwent itself. Most of the battles are shortened to one round and sometimes you may finish two puzzles, read a ton of story, travel a lot and understand it's been awhile since you had a decent normal battle with your deck. Even worse, the game understands that and doesn't give you too many card options. You may play few hours without getting new cards at all. Second issue is the difficulty. On release game was frustratingly easy even on Very Hard difficulty. First patch made situation better a bit, but still its easy most of the time. A lot of cards and strategies are so OP, you might finish the battle with empty enemy field. But then you encounter puzzles, which are difficult most of the time, and few random battles have has a sudden difficulty spikes, which you totally unexpected. And then easy battles again. This confuses a lot. However the last boss fight is really difficult and counters most OP tactics I have invented throughout the game. My respect, that was cool. Overall, if you looking for a new adventure in Witcher world, want to read a great interactive book in dark fantasy setting, or just looking for really good story card game, this is it. Try it. Btw, don't know why, but most of this game's negative reviews are actually addressed for Gwent multiplayer.

Boring and frustrating

Played for approximately 8 hours and the storie is flat and boring the presentation is also. On the otherhand the card battles are frusrating and are just no fun, and i loved gwent in the witcher wild hunt, but here you lang the opportunity to customise the Card deck as you want to. The Rpg part is plain boring and is basically like a mobile game were you wander around a map and collect loot witch is always the same a few gold and and few wood. The Npc's mostly just speak one or two sentences and somtimes you have to macke a very Basic choice. Maybee the later stages of the game are more interresting but ich highly doubt that and I woun't find out. Done withe the game. I had higher Expectations from the developers of the witcher very disapointing

Phenomenal

CDPR releases another gold standard for medieval fantasy RPG/storytelling as far as I'm concerned.

Cool Story - surprising gameplay

While I mostly enjoyed Gwent between quests in Witcher 3, the online gwent thing absolutely was not my cup of tea. And here we are with thronebreaker. So is this game for you? Storywise: - Interesting story with surprising twists - If you liked the worldsetting in the Witcher series, you will feel right at home: you will encounter the classic monsters like drowners, trolls and nekkers and experience how difficult and dangerous it is for people to deal with these without the help of a witcher. You will also meet factions like Skellige raiders and the nilfgaardian empire again and both the world setting, the writing and the choices you regularly have to make are gritty and though. People you enjoyed Witcher 1 and 2 can also look forward to meeting the iconic Scoia'tael again and you will have to make tough decisions on how to deal with them and the racism that elves and dwarves receive in most villages. There are quite many situations where I already had to think long and hard on how to decide. There are no easy decisions during war times in the Witcher world because being good and upstanding rarely pays off, but acting like a monster certainly will have its consequences too. - If you like the Witcher world or more gritty settings, you will like this a lot. - The characters are well developed and well written. The main character Queen Meve of Lyria and Rivia is quite an interesting character that you form by your decisions along the way. How would you rule and judge during war times - e.g. how far are you willing to go to fight the enemy? Are you willing to massacre the enemy's sick bay full of helpless and wounded people just because they're on the other side? What will they do if you let them live? What will your people think if you don't even have the decency to spare the wounded? Fun times! Gameplaywise: - If you don't like Gwent, perhaps think twice. What I can say is that this Game is a lot different and more challenging and offe[REVIEW WORD LIMIT REACHED OMG]
