Description
Welcome to Thimbleweed Park. Population: 80 nutcases.

A haunted hotel, an abandoned circus, a burnt-out pillow factory, a dead body pixelating under the bridge, toilets that run on vacuum tubes... you’ve never visited a place like this before.

Five people with nothing in common have been drawn to this rundown, forgotten town. They don’t know it yet, but they are all deeply connected. And they’re being watched.

...Who is Agent Ray really working for and will she get what they want?
...What does Junior Agent Reyes know about a 20 year old factory fire that he’s not saying?
...Will the ghost, Franklin, get to speak to his daughter again?
...Will Ransome the *Beeping* Clown ever become a decent human being?
...Will aspiring game developer Delores abandon her dreams and stick by her family?
...And most importantly: how come no one cares about that dead body?

By the end of a long, strange night in Thimbleweed Park, all of this will be answered -- and you’ll question everything you thought you knew.

In a town like Thimbleweed Park, a dead body is the least of your problems.

Brilliant-a-reno!

Ron Gilbert is in sparkling form in this goofy mystery tale. From the get-go, which feels like something half-way between an X-Files episode and the Stepford Wives, to the final "twist", which we of course see coming but it only makes it more funny to see the characters being shocked as they make the discovery, there is never a dull moment. It's just a shame that the creators opted for a retro style, with an old-fashioned UI with its list of verbs and the pixelated graphics. Of course it was a deliberate decision - and obviously it fits with the game itself - but unfortunately it means that Thimbleweed Park will never stand on its own. It will always be regarded as a mere tribute to the genre classics - when with a less deferential treatment it should and would be a great classic itself.

Good adventure game

This a graphic adventure with a style similar to the ones made in the past by Lucas Arts. The game consists in two detectives who have to solve a case. In addition, it includes two mini-games, in which you control a clown and a girl called Delores. The funny part is that it incorporates numerous references to Maniac Mansion. The game has text and voices in English, and works well in Linux.

Finally!

(Disclaimer: I have not yet completed the game.) I've been waiting for this since I saw the kickstarter (and backed it), and I must admit that playing this game has been exactly what I hoped and wanted. It really feels like a game from the very early nineties. Think Monkey Island, not Maniac Mansion. "How we remember them, not as they were." Yes, I know it was started as an attempt to emulate the earlier MM and Zak, but for me personally, the style they ended up with is perfect. Monkey Island is for me the best adventure game ever created. Period. This is the most fun I've had playing a game since .. since .. I can't remember. It's just great!

Very good old-school Adventure Game!

Very good game by adventure legends Gilbert and Winnick. Very funny, specially Ransome the Clown. I liked the unexpected ending. The puzzles were mostly ok, and by that I mean logical, some of them provoked the classical "what were the designers thinking!". Highly recommended.

Almost perfect adventure game nostalgia

There have been a lot of games looking to capitalize on nostalgia lately, but Thimbleweed Park is one of the few titles that has actually pulled it off really well. The game recaptures a lot of the same humor and cleverness found in classic games like The Secret of Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle, with plenty of meta in-jokes and references to those games as well (which had plenty of meta jokes themselves). The actual gameplay is standard adventure game fare, and for the most part, the puzzles are well designed and generally are not too ridiculous. There are no "wash a car to make it rain" puzzles that I can remember. Without spoiling anything, my one major complaint about the game is its rather abrupt ending, which left me feeling unsatisfied once the game was over. The overall story had great build up and plenty of interesting characters, but I found the ending to be a bit anticlimactic and rushed. If the ending had been more satisfying, this would have been a definite 5/5 for me. That said, I would still highly recommend this game to anyone who had been a fan of the old point-and-click adventure games.
