Thimbleweed Park

Ron Gilbert has captured 1993 in a bottle and is selling it for 20 bucks. I missed the Kickstarter for this game (I'll touch more on why that makes me sad in a bit), but was happy to find it on pretty much every platform imaginable. The game is more than a callback to Lucasfilm Adventures of the 90s...it *IS* a Lucasfilm Adventure from the 90s. It's Twin Peaks meets X-Files meets Maniac Mansion and is exactly as amazing as that sounds. It's a fully voiced adventure which you can further retro up by swapping the UI elements back to the original Zak McKracken/MM days. The game has all of the callbacks. The humor feels entirely intact and the game is full and entirely fleshed out. I've been burned on KS games before. Thimbleweed delivers in a big way. It's multi-character like Maniac Mansion. The narrative benefits from this in interesting ways. If you're a fan of this type of game, I can say without a doubt you'll love Thimbleweed. I wish I'd gotten in at the Kickstarter. The team did one of the best jobs with backer rewards I've ever seen. As a filmmaker who has to wrangle rewards at least twice a year, it was refreshing to see someone just knock that out of the park. Integrated in game and completely compelling. I really hope this isn't just a one-shot and we get more of these. I am in love.

I downloaded yesterday! It is a fantastic game with perfect retro graphics and most important same atmosphere as it was back in the 80's. I enjoyed it 100%!!!

Great story, great characters, great game. With this gem we return to the golden age of the Point and Click adventure games.

Puzzles so good I threw up real bad and we had to move house. People told me that having to move house because you threw up real bad playing a funny game is bad, but I say it's oh so good. Just like Thimbleweed Park. Don't bury this one in the yard!

It is really hard to create a point&click adventure which is enjoyable to the people have played all the multi-decade old classics, and seen lots of puzzles and humour around. Thimbleweed Park is just that: really enjoyable, witty, and follows all the great traditions of the old LucasArts games, like "you cannot die" and "you cannot terminally screw up your game", along with plenty of insider jokes and breaking the fourth wall dialogue, ingenious hint system and all that madness which makes such a game just great. I'm sad that I have missed the kickstarter and being the part of supporting this game.
