Thimbleweed Park

Very nostalgic and new at the same time, I loved the graphics, the atmosphere, the humor, the puzzles. A couple of holes in the plot and I was not very happy with the ending, but the game is amazing overall. I put this on my top 5 Graphic Adventures of all time.

Imagine somebody taking a stupid joke like "Germans like schnitzel" and forcing it everywhere at least 50 times until you're absolutely fed up with it and can't take it no more. Well, supposedly that's the funny part. You being angry at the silly joke. So meta. Hah-hah. And that's the whole design philosophy behind this game. You meet a character, they do some kind of unfunny shtick, everyone comments on how obnoxious and annoying it is, only to see the character up their shtick to 11. OMG, such funnies, my sides.

I'm old enough to remember Maniac Mansion (yes, yes, I'm a dinosaur). This title feels very much like a love letter to that game and other LucasFilm games (e.g. Zak McCracken and the Alien Mindbenders). I've played through Acts 2 and 3 now, and this game is great. The tension between the two agents is palpable. The town itself is menacing, but it's difficult to have a game over. The humour is great. I look forward to finishing this game, but so far, it's 5 stars from me.

A little heavy handed with references and jokes about old school adventure games (the first one is hilarious, the twentyfifth is old news), but the puzzles are engaging and I never had to resort to "use everything with everything else until they fit". The clues are there and the outcome is logical.

Reminded me of Zak Mac Kraken! Pleeeeeease do another game-a-rino like this one!
