Description
They Are Billions is a strategy game in a distant future about building and managing human colonies after a zombie apocalypse destroyed almost all of human kind. Now there are only a few thousand humans left alive that must struggle to survive under the threat of the infection. Billions of infected roam around the world in massive swarms seeking the last living human colonies.

Campaign: The New Empire - Available now!

Lead the campaign under the orders of Quintus Crane, ruler of the New Empire, and reconquer the lands devastated by the infected.

  • 48 missions with more than 60 hours of gameplay.
  • Build fortified colonies to survive in infected territories
  • Destroy the swarms of infected with the Imperial Army.
  • Make your colonies evolve with more than 90 available technologies.
  • Explore the ancient human fortresses with your Hero.
  • Discover the story behind the apocalypse... how did the pandemic start?

Survival Mode

In this mode, a random world is generated with its own events, weather, geography, and infected population. You must build a successful colony that must survive for a specific period of time against the swarms of infected. It is a fast and ultra addictive game mode. We plan to release a challenge of the week where all players must play the same random map. The best scores will be published in a leaderboard.

Real Time with Pause

This is a real-time strategy game, but don’t get too nervous. You can pause the action to take the best strategic and tactical decisions.
In Pause Mode, you can place structures to build, give orders to your army, or consult all of the game’s information.
This game is all about strategy, not player performance or the player’s skill to memorize and quickly execute dozens of key commands. Pause the game and take all the time you need!

Build your Colony

Build dwellings and acquire food for the colonists. They will come to live and work for the colony.
Collect resources from the environment using various building structures. Upgrade buildings to make them more efficient.
Expand the energy distribution of the colony by placing Tesla Towers and build mills and power plants to feed the energy to your buildings.
Build walls, gates, towers, and structures to watch the surroundings. Don’t let the infected take over the colony!

Build an Army

What kind of people would want to combat the infected?
Only the maddest ones. Train and contract mercenaries to protect the colony. They demand their money and food, and you will have to listen to their awful comments, but these tormented heroes will be your best weapon to destroy the infected.
Every unit is unique and has their own skills and personality – discover them!

Thousands of Units on Screen

Yes! They are billions! The world is full of infected creatures… they roam, smell, and listen. Every one of them has their own AI. Make noise and they will come – kill some of them to access an oil deposit and hundred of them will come to investigate.
We have created our custom engine to handle hordes of thousands of the infected, up to 20,000 units in real time.
Do you think your colony is safe? Wait for the swarms of thousands of infected that are roaming the world. Sometimes your colony is in their path!

Prevent the Infection

If just one of the infected breaks into a building, all the colonies and workers inside will become infected. The infected workers will then run rabid to infect more buildings. Infections must be eradicated from the beginning, otherwise, it will grow exponentially becoming impossible to contain.

Beautiful 4K Graphics!

Prepare to enjoy these ultra high definition graphics. Our artists have created tons of art pieces: Beautiful buildings with their own animations, thousands of frames of animation to get the smoothest movements and everything with a crazy Steampunk and Victorian style!

My Early Access Disappointment

GOG doesn't say I own this game, that's because I already have it on my Steam. I broke my own vow not to buy any Early Access before it came out because I thought this game would be good. It isn't. It has an interesting mechanic which will keep you hooked for a while. But when you realized that's all there is to the game, you'll want your money back. You start out with a HQ & a few scouts. Your job is to build your city, clear the map & protect yourself from the zombie hordes. The only thing that changed about the game is the randomly-generated maps. Since the game is out of the early access, the campaign is finished & you have a map editor so there's that. The campaign is pretty much the same as survival mode except the map isn't randomly generated. The campaign also adds Hero missions, but the game only has 2 heroes & you can only choose 1 & you can't even use your hero to defend your city so it's pretty much a waste of opportunity. These hero missions aren't even that good, I find them to be boring most of the time. But I have to do it because they do give out good rewards which you can use to upgrade your tech tree in the campaign & a backstory in the form of old newspapers & documents. So yeah, no story in the campaign, just build your city & try not to die. I was hoping to be some sort of politics when it comes to managing your city, but there's none. You just build your city, obey the Steam Punk Darth Vader, guide your hero through mazes & hope you'll still be alive by the end of the game. I would recommend Rebuild over this game, and you can even play Rebuild for free on Newgrounds! Heck, you can even find Rebuild 3 on GOG & it's half the price of this game! But if you want to buy this game? I recommend wait for a steep discount, I'm talking about 75%+ discounts. Like seriously, this game loses to a free flash game on Newgrounds. Just go play Rebuild.

Enjoying 800% Campaign

While half of the challenge is to find out what to research and what mission to run next, i pretty much like the game itself. Devs happened to make pretty nice balance between free space and resources available, noise that attracts too much unwanted attention early in the game, available firepower and need to have all research points to be put into "lategame" devices capable of defeat uncountable zombies comming with the next wave. Every time it feels so good to shred to pieces incoming herd, after slow and accurate beginning of the mission

It's Worth It

Every review you've read about this game is right. The campaign sucks and can soft-lock you with impossible difficulty based on what technologies you've chosen to unlock. The hero-missions are 90-minute chores of kiting enemies and doubling back. The lack of normal save/load means that if things get hairy, you have to salvage the last couple minutes by closing the program via Task Manager. BUT... I have sunk hundreds of hours into Survival Mode (its regular random-map mode) and still find it endearing. The art style is perfect. Gameplay is fun and tense. It really makes you think to plan your optimal base defenses and economy layout. The bad voice acting and bizarre unit dialogue are a plus. I do recommend this game, acknowledging all its glaring flaws. I know it's not encouraging to read "this game is great once you acclimate to its faults," but what it does right it does so well that it's worth trying. I keep coming back to it and enjoy exhilarating games every time I play.

A challanging survival base building game

You will lose the first few times, I know I did. I played this at a friends house and while attempting to add it to my wishlist accidentally purchased it. I will ask for a refund and wait for a sale but imo the game could be worth the full price I'm just not very wealthy :) A few things, a lot of people complain about the campaign but survival mode is the heart and soul of the game, play that first and get the basics down before you try the campaign. I think the map is generated each time and sometimes you will make bad choices thinking that they are good choices. I spent a lot of resources and time setting up a defense wall with towers and then after scouting farther into the fog of war I found out..... It was a dead end! No zombies could come that way. But I left those walls and stuff up because I had learned from my previous defeat how fast infection spreads and its good to have breaks like a submarine or when a building tries to stop a fire. BIG TIP -The only building you 100% have to protect is your main base of operations. Make sure you have a reserve squad or some towers in case SHTF as long as main base lives you can always come back and repair the rest. Have fun, good luck and sorry if you die! (I will.... again and again and again)

Not worth it yet.

Boring campaign. Glitchy AI. Lots of random crashes which isn't the best when your game doesn't have manual save. Say good bye to the last hour of progress if it crashes before it auto saves randomly. Oh and all my saves after 16 hrs of playing it just randomly deleted. Stay clear
