Geralt the slave
True to the books, The Witcher 3 delivers our favourite feminine warrior, servant of witches in its third and final instalment. Playing in the impersonal third person view, we follow the witcher Geralt of Rivia as he is manipulated and used by the heroines who play the main role in the story. The overall quality of the game is above average, with the combat (without mods) being average against monsters and below average against human opponents. Magic, iron swords and potions are the weapons with which Geralt does his mistresses biddings. As in the books, the main story line is quite cringe and boring with plentiful of negative stereotypes and empowerment messages. Some of the side quests were actually quite nice and enjoyable, but overall the game failed to engage me with any of its characters, least of all the main one. Despite having read the books and knowing the author is a man, while I was playing I couldn't help myself thinking that The Witcher is exactly what I would expect a woman to write (having known a few female feminist writers), so it is not surprising it found a great number of female and effeminate fans. Apart from the cringe story and characters the character and item levelling is a chore that really gets in the way. Luckily mods got rid of this major negative point, as well as improving combat and adding other neat things. So a great thanks to the modders. It is a real shame about all the political activism, which took away too much of what I might have otherwise enjoyed. But... if you like magic, feminine and negatively stereotyped men and empowered super-women I highly recommend this game. If on the other hand you know what H.E.M.A. means and are not down with current trends around gender politics and stuff you will both laugh and cringe your way through the game, if you choose to play it. Despite the engine upgrade and some great mods I see The Witcher 3 as the worst of the three games in the series.

A jank arpg that wants to be a movie
The witcher 3 suffers from a litany of gameplay issues *including quen spamming, dodge spamming, op consumes, delayed inputs, console focused format, fucking awful game pad controls, floaty and repetitive combat and awful copy paste contracts and side missions all of which is a huge issue for an arpg since your primary way of interfacing with the game is through combat and id say its like a 75/25 percent split on combat to dialogue and other side content. Speaking of the dialogue while the writing can be great more often than not when it comes to geralt or anything outside of the main story the writing is just kind of bland and banal good writing doesn't have to include memorable lines or witty quips good dialogue can just convey a concept in an interesting light but this game falls flat on its ass trying to make me care about any temporary characters that are not at the core of geralts story. Geralt himself isn't written poorly its mostly the reaction to geralt and his actions that are written poorly now im not opposed to wish fulfillment writing at all but there is a tasteful way to approach it rather than most people find you to be a gross mutant but only the coolest bros and the chicks with the biggest assets really are all up in geralt's shit which just ends up taking me out of the game even more. All in all this game while exceptional when compared to games like skyrim or most jrpgs or modern bioware games, CRPGS are on the rise with the exceptional release of disco elysium *and divinity 2, tyranny underail to a lesser extent* which puts into perspective of how much true potential there is for modern rpgs to go out there and kick ass while not needing to stick to this played out arpg formula which limits alot of what i and others truly care about in rpgs ie. the roleplaying and storytelling. I'm glad we are at a point where we don't need the witcher 3 to show us what good rpgs can be and i hope it stays that way.

I wanted to enjoy this game
But I cant when every mission feels like a boss fight. Takes all the pleasure out of the game. Normal difficulty is supposed to be... NORMAL.
