Cant play it yet. But...

As the Title says i don't have a PC that can handle this game yet or even the first one or many other games...... HOWEVER, Because of how awesome the developers are i wanted to support them, Especially because of their NO-DRM Stance. I hope to build a new pc in the coming months and play the shit out of both The Witcher games and get The Witcher 3 ASAP!.

Either you have it or you must have it

This game is awesome and atm. one of the kind (well, the 2nd of the kind, because of The Witcher 1 :D). I hoped for a change in the combat system since The Witcher 1, because regarding the combat mechanics, the first game didn't have much replay value. Now you have 3 different distinct paths (magic, alchemy, swordsmanship) that play way different in term of combat mechanics. THEN YOU GOT A NEW COMBAT MOD SUPPORTED BY CPR, THAT ADS A 4RTH LEVEL OF DIFFERENT COMBAT MECHANIC. The story is awesome, with again difficult and grey choices, the graphics are atm. the best from any existing rpg game of any platform. The only minuses I found were the ugly inventory management and the lazy economy (it works, but come on, you sell a thing at 15th the buying value? wtf) that in my opinon do not detract from the fum and the immersion . Just buy it. It's 10$ atm. 10$ for a Picasso... cmon...

still unstable

Looked forward playing the game but random crashes without error are frustrating. (Even by reducing them through regularly deleting old save games... Bug known from Witcher1 - Fix would be nice...) Furthermore "wave-spawning" enemies f.ex. in a little cave just damage the atmosphere - feels like senselessly taken my time when the same enemies killed a second before spawn awkwardly at your side again and must be fought again x-times. Just go on and skip the boring guys is not allowed. Pro: The story and quest texts "written by" Dandelion (Rittersporn) as well as love for detail in the levels.

Fight smart or you will die, literally.

Graphics are beautiful and sound design is nice. Story is sometimes difficult to understand but it is good. This game has some things that are better done here than in the Witcher 1 but, UI is worse. I loved Bestiary in W1 because it was simple in design and understandable and in one place. In here there are two places you need to look if you want to learn all about monsters. Weaknesses are not underlined and I did not like it, it was not simple to catch. Inventory system interface was too big and sometimes confusing and you need to scroll a lot to find what you need to find. But in W1 done simple and you had everything in one place and did not need to scroll anything. Combat is different from W1, not sure it is better or worse. Fight smart, roll a lot or you will die. I am not joking. That is something that you need to do, especially in first few hours if you play on normal difficulty. I started on normal difficulty but had to switch to easy on some occasions. I don't know what happened but sometimes normal feels like hard, very hard. Opponents feel like sponges sometimes. You hit them and do minimal damage and when they hit you back it hurts like hell. For example in first fight in La Vallete castle and in fight against Endrega queen. There is a lot more politics and can became boring from time to time but characters feel alive and interesting. These are things that bothered me during my playthrough but were fixed in W3. I want to give this game 4/5 but cant because I did not have fun like in W1.

Worst of The Witcher franchise

I have the feeling that The Witcher 2 was just a sort of transition between The Witcher 1 and The Wild Hunt. Just like an unfinished project to have a look at what The Witcher 3 might be in the future. The game does away with most of the gameplay of the original The Witcher. It changes the perfect RPG-like combat system of The Witcher 1 into a kind of ragged action system. One consequence is an exaggerated and unbalanced difficulty. It is also the shortest of the entire franchise. However, it is not the gameplay that is the watermark of CD Project Red. It is the story, the atmosphere and the dialogue. And that makes this a fun title to play.
