ìt is pretty good

A little too late, but I finally got to play this classic After 56 hours I finally finished it (i played on normal since I didn't know what I was getting into) and I must say it was a good game, and in case you don't want to read the text wall bellow: Play it, it's worth every penny What I like: - The character and graphic desing, that icy wasteland in the epilogue was beautiful - The music: the boss theme is metal - The voice acting, Geralt is monotonous, but Iguess that sort of thing happens when you are an amnesiac - The writing: you got everything, drama, action, and comedy - The combat: yes it can be stiffy, but once you find your rythm and start mowing down groups of enemies with ease it gets quite satisfying, specially when you are using the full potential of your signs and potions - The power fantasy of being probably the most promiscuos badass (I wasn't expecting that) what could have been better - I should have played in the hardest difficulty, normal proved to be too easy, I only died once and it was early in the game when I was learning the ropes, most of the time I used potions/oils/runes out of curiosity - The inability to carry every crafting material present in the game, many time I had to throw away mats because of this, not game breaking since I rarely brew potions, but I felt it was a waste nonetheless -The inability to carry weapons in your bags to sell later, and yes, I am nitpicking because I always had enough money for whatever I needed, but still - some of the signs are effectively useless, hex sounds good on paper, not so much in practice, specially when Aard and Ignis are enough to dispatch most enemies Overall the game is good, I had a lot of fun, I should have played on hard so I could have used all my abilities to thei fullest, I'll most likely revisit the game in a year or two to play it on hard, change my story choices and focus in other signs, who knows, maybe I missed half the fun the game had to offer

Set an Expectation for RPG Gaming

While the controls and graphics may not be what gamers are accustomed to today, The Witcher is a classic that launched a passion for gamers to want to explore the world of The Continent. The World: The game makes use of tough moral decisions in a complex world that challenges your concept of right and wrong with themes such as racism, sexualization, and moral-ambiguity. The decisions you may think are the right one, may have unforeseen consequences. Combat: Some call the combat clunky, but the idea of needing to prepare for a fight by balancing the right buffs and debuffs to fight your own way makes the combat system that much more difficult. Like many RPGs, the game makes use of fighting styles with different styles being more suited to different enemy types. It is definitely worth a play for anyone who is passionate about fantasy RPGs.

The begining

13 years have passed since the launch and you can notice with the graphics and the clunky gameplay. Of course, at that time, in 2007 we had Bioshock, Halo 3, Assassins creed and Crysis, Portal and a lot of other good games, but, what makes The Witcher special? As I said, the first The Witcher has clunky controls, the combat system is not polished, you can't jump even small gaps and the same models repeat every single time. But everyone agree with one thing, the atmosphere its really good. It looks like a tight budget game (it is) but sometimes have nice details like birds, dogs, npc's that interact with anothers. The story its OK in the begining, and with more you play it gets better. My recomendation is, if you want to fully enter The Witcher world, you can play it if you want, honestly i dont think there's a problem if you don't want. Sometimes the game is in 1 dollar if you don't want to spend 10 instead. On my case, I first played the third game, but i dropped because I really like the game and I wanted to play the other 2 to understand what's going on, and also make a long playthrough with the saves of the other 2 games.

Neat introduction

While it has it's flaws (the collectibles.... the combat system) I still enjoyed the story, atmosphere, world building and overal writing a lot. I think it's still worth to star the Witcher game series with this title and not the third.

From a Witcher 3 fan

If you love Witcher 3 like I do then you probably will like this game, you must be patient with it however, but for Witcher 3 fans it's a recommend from me. Following are a few strengths and weaknesses in random order: + The game ran well for an older title, it did freeze and exit a few times so save frequently and the frame rate was stable most of the time. + The story is solid overall + Music is very enjoyable It would fit in Witcher 3 in my opinion! + Environmental graphics are surprisingly quite pretty (2007) - Combat is strange at first but you get used to it, be patient! It can be quite satisfying seeing Geralt spin about and do kicks and spins! - Bit of a walking simulator at times, use the zoomed out view and just click is my advice + Levelling feels rewarding and I think is well thought out - Boss fights are a bit crap -Side quests are pretty average, collecting the "love" cards is fun :P + The extras that come with the game are quite cool I don't plan on playing the remaster as they will probably gut and simplify this title to appeal to "modern audiences". If you love Witcher 3 give this one a fair go it will surprise you as it did me, thanks for reading.
