Good game like another world but frustrating to die so often. Good but really hard for me.
Some puzzle seem impossible.
Linux version has buggy controller support (i am using the windows with wine to use the gamepad)
I liked this game very much. The setting is very cool and is slowly revealed, as in you don't know how futuristic it is from the start, or what kind of things to expect. The game is very atmospheric and I loved the alien environments. The pixel art and background animations are excellent. I don't recall the last game where I saw such good pixel art. Music is nice.
Game has a lot of touches that remind me of old classics like Sierra and Lucasarts games. Gameplay is mostly platformer, with tough parts where tight timing and sequence of actions is required, ala games like Another World, Prince of Persia 1 and 2. So make sure you enjoy that kind of gameplay before playing this, otherwise I imagine it could be pretty frustrating. Also, there are many puzzles interspersed throughout the whole game, which I thought provide a nice change of pace. I thought they were varied, with most being logic style puzzles, of the non-inventory type that you can find in adventure games. In many cases they are connected with the environments, which is good, but the downside is that many times this connection feels forced as if those puzzles/mechanisms don't really make much sense within the world.
This game starts off strong, and reminds me a lot of "Out of this World" aka "Another World" (also on this website.
The plot is also very interesting at first--you, as a scientist swear to bring your beloved wife back from the dead using science, and your adventures soon take you to another world.
However, both the plot and gameplay go downhill soon and the game just feels very mediocre for a while until by the end it's a frustrating mess.
...Also, there are two endings, and they both suck.
Started playing the game and couldn't let go until it was done. Puzzles were logic and varied; level design was excellent; controls were very good (using an Xbox360 wireless controller).. Graphics are retro and I found them wonderful. I loved Another World and Flashback and The Way brings a lot of those games back. I highly recommend this game!
I love this game and recommend you buy it if the puzzle/adventure gameplay appeals to you. I loved the puzzles, world, and design. The graphics are a little simple if that bothers you (it didn't bother me). The game keeps throwing new interesting challenges at you throughout, and it was great. However, you WILL get annoyed while playing at a few parts because of the game's checkpoint system. It often takes you back a little too far, nullifying a bit of progress, unnecessarily so. Nothing major, but just enough to annoy you. If the devs can fix this, it's a very solid game.
