The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

Good gameplay, I enjoyed getting a peek at how an investigator thinks and analyzes crime scenes. Good graphics, good sound design and music. Feels immersive. Good story up until the ending - then everything is ruined.

The game is very good, though a bit too short. It features beautiful graphics and a compelling story. I appreciated how it subtly guided me forward without being overt about it. I felt like I had the freedom to explore and make my own choices, yet I always ended up exactly where the developers intended me to go. The puzzles were relatively easy, and some could be solved through brute force (which, admittedly, I resorted to a couple of times). Despite this, the overall experience was enjoyable, capped off with a satisfying ending. I definitely recommend this game to everyone, and I can imagine it must have been a breathtaking experience upon release. However, a few shortcomings prevent me from giving it a perfect 5/5 rating.

I liked this place, the river, the forest. It's so bright and beautiful and so rightly contradict story plot. The story about Carter family seems well written and could be seen as psycological or mysterious horror.

I think the game overall is fine. It's very pretty, but I don't have a lot of direction. Key items often blend into the environment and can't be seen in the non-existent inventory. I don't hate this game, but it feels less than optimized.

This game is amazing, I won't spoil anything here but it's a walking sim detective game where you traverse through an absolutely stunning landscape solving murders and piecing together the story. It's a game that I would recommend putting time aside to play in one go (3 hours is how long it took me!) as you just get the best experience from it that way. The game is supported by a really beautiful soundtrack which creates an atmosphere that gave me goosebumps a number of times throughout.
