The Uncertain: Last Quiet Day is a story-driven adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world. You see it from the perspective of an engineering robot RT-217NP, who seems to be very curious about the human race, long extinct in wasting wars. Experience the mysterious vibe of each of carefully explored locations. Test your skills, solving diverse puzzles. Make fateful decisions and discuss intriguing matters to find out the whole truth being kept from you.
Key features:
Classic 3D Adventure with unique story
Beautiful graphics and immersive atmosphere
Original indie soundtrack
Made using NVIDIA GameWorks HBAO+, DoF and FXAA technologies
The controls are clunky, the puzzles are few and simple (and poorly designed), the characters are bland, the story is directed in a totally uninspired way, the camera was horrible, the game is EXTREMELY SHORT. It feels like this was made by a very inexperienced person who doesn't know how to make games. Also the voice acting has many errors.
This game is pretty Ok. The story and world is interesting, the puzzles are Ok, the controls could be better.
In general the game could have needed a little bit more polishing.
Important thing to be aware of, the end is very open and directs directly to the sequel (which I havent played yet). It basically stops right in the middle of the story, so this is more like episode 1 of the game.
But overall, I still enjoyed the 2-3 hour trip.
So if you can grab it in a sale and want to spend a few hours, why not. Just be aware that you probably also need the sequel then.
The Uncertain: Last Quiet Day is a point-and-click adventure dealing where you play as a robot living in a post-human world. The story's premise is pretty interesting. It deals with the questions of humanity's extinction and of robots becoming the new "humans".
The graphics are great, the soundtrack, though repetitive at times, is alright as well.
Here's where the game falls flat:
* It's too short and ends on a cliffhanger. I finished the game in 3 hours and didn't expect it to end when it did. Plus, honestly, the pacing of the story in these 3 hours was far from ideal as well
* Generic puzzles. Game gives you a task like "fix the generator", and all you have to do is some kind of a generic puzzle game to fix it. This was acceptable in 90s and early 20s, but nowadays it feels just lazy
* Unnecessary game mechanics. E.g. the game has a driving / racing sequence. It is not fun at all and I fail to see what purpose it serves other than making the game maybe more console-friendly? In any case, it's better to have nothing than half-assed mechanics like that
I recommend to buy it on sale for people who are fans of point-and-click adventure game genre. In other cases it isn't really worth it.
This game has a lot of potential.
You play a robot, RT, in a world where the humanity has disappeared. One day, an event occurs and your adventure begin. You will explore some of the world, interacting with object and understand more about the world and what happened. The atmosphere is great, there is a "I'm a legend" (without the zombie of course) vibe. The gameplay is slow : you walk and interact with the environment and solving puzzles. I really liked some of the interaction of RT with human object. The music is nice.
Some blackspot : The control are not great, to be honest but they don't break the immersion. And it's a prologue, an introduction. At the end i was thinking of a joke, This could not be the end. This was getting interesting ! Took me three hours to complete and that's really a shame, because i want to know more about this word and the story. The studio really got something with this game. I hope there is an other game coming.
If you like story driven game, with a simple gameplay you will like it. But it's just the begining of the story, that left you hungering for more.
Cool, arty, well-constructed, nicely voiced and well-programmed adventure game that suddenly ends more like missing code than an actual cliffhanger. I didn't pay much for this but I did expect a complete game. Maybe the creators ran out of $, oh well. Forewarned is forearmed, or four-armed, or something like that. At this writing, GOG is only asking $1.49 for it and it's certainly worth that if there is a second chapter and buyers of the first get a discount. (There seem to be some patches available on GOG now. Maybe I'll update it and try it again?)
