The Silver Case

Haven't finished yet, but it's pretty awesome so far.

There's a lot of reading. It feels very much like a TV show, but it is pretty good. Sometimes the story is pretty tough to follow, at least with some of the finer details, although the game does sumarise all the important information

Contrary to what the system requirements says, the game is unplayable on a more recent Ubuntu system (18.10) or other unsupported distributions. I tried it with an Ubuntu 18.10 that follows the specified requirements and with an Arch Linux with a better hardware. In both cases, all the 3D scenes appears completely black and it's impossible to load a saved game.

Way too much time spent setting up the story. Nothing but reading, watching annoying pseudo-animations and tons of random words and acronyms scrolling around image boxes. Then there's the pure-text sequences with an extremely irritating typing noise. I closed the game and uninstalled on the 3rd or 4th such sequence. To sum it up: Long and annoying pre-gameplay sequence put me off completely. Wish I hadn't taken so long to get around to playing this. Can't get a refund now.

I don't know about other people, but the writing just killed the game for me. Listening supposedly "tough" characters that swear as ridiculously as 14 old teens trying to act as gangsters just means the immersion is totally gone. Next time, hire a native English speaker to at least proof-read the translation, or better yet, native English speaker that understands Japanese, and you will get a palatable result.
