The gods may be crazy! First the Almighty HE, the highest of all the gods, sends Jupiter, Horus, and Ch’ib-Yu off into an extremely arduous competition simply on account of some occasional drinking sprees! Then the three gods are subjected to scorn and derision: Q'nqura, the goddess of the Amazons, lets the trio win in battle out of pure spite, and then their humiliation is complete!

I loved Settlers 1.. LOVED to death Settlers 2.. but Settlers 3? You can give it to the dogs for all I care. Seems like a more dumbed down version of Settlers 2 and an attempt to put in RTS military combat into a game - where it just doesn't fit.
I have bought this game years ago - you can't get across in germany anyway.
While the predecessor Settlers 2 is known to be the highlight of the franchise I prefer Settlers 3. The graphics are cute, the races different enough to be notable and you have free play. Anyway, if you are looking for a generic rts and a lot of combat, try another game. If you like building and don't care about combat too much, this is your game.
Regarding compatibility, I have the pleasure of having Windows 7, which is, in my humble opinion, the best choice for games! So yes, I am lucky! Now, to the game itself...
I happen to be a huge fan of the original "The Settlers" of 1993, and to this day I still believe that it is the best of them all! And I say this, having played all 7 of them!
This one lacks many things:
Organization: The "settlers" are just roamers, all over the place!
Roads: You don't make them any more! (the fixed this in later games!)
Tutorial: Takes forever - lol
Ubisoft/Blu byte swayed ever farther down the road on this one!
I am sorry, but this is just another "sequel" which is actually a disappointment!
