"The Red Strings Club" features compelling yet simple gameplay, and a pretty unique story of technology, love, and what it means to be human -even if all the other elements surrounding that narrative leave something to be desired-

The game is pretty short, but well-made. The art is pretty enough for pixel art, the music works well, pretty much every character has some depth - no cardboard villains or sidekicks here, the story is interesting enough to keep me engaged for the duration of the game. The themes are more or less standard cyberpunk fare, the discussions of them in the game what you might expect over a drink - and the game has a habit of second guessing every moral judgement you make, which is nice, I think. The ending made me cry when it arrived, even though it is spoiled in the opening sequence. Not earth-shattering by any measure, but a pretty and moving thing. The only complaint is maybe that it could be more replay-friendly (e.g. it would be easier to see all the branches if we could navigate the flowchart, or skip minigames during replay).

I just finished this and thought it was good enough to come back here and drop a few lines. I would sum it up as a short, very cool (if somewhat gloom) game that's well executed and has a great cyberpunk setting. + great art, both music and graphics + the multi character approach isn't new in adventures but it's implemented well and comes with different core game mechanics. + decent writing and characters + no technical issues encountered (should be status quo, but you know it isn't, so I think it's worth noting) - if you look for puzzles first and foremost, keep looking. this has more of a vn vibe - has a few obvious SJW moments. They didn't strike me as clumsily implemented as the "overall most helpful review" outlines, but I guess it also depends on how sensitive you are in regard to this. - choices matter but only on a smaller scale. overall this is pretty linear.

Honestly I wrote my review but it will probably get me banned on this site or I will have bad reproductions because of what I think about the ending. Just search up the ending or do some research because I would have if I didn't know this detail.. Also this game is about bar tending. But the mechanics suck. It's hard pouring the drinks. Also that's just one out of 3 parts of the game. I would of thought by the name of this game that it would be more about bar stuff.. all it does is revolve around it.. This book would of been way better if it had voice acting. There's just so much to read and do that it felt like too much. I wanted to explore more options. But what people said would be a 3 hour experience turned into a 5 hour experience... It's an indi game so it makes sense for no voice acting. The backdrops are boring. The game has like 3 backdrops. It gets boring looking at the same stuff all the time. Also the characters don't do much movement. There's a part about a person beign tense or calm and it's just so lame. Its just 2 poses... Overall if this site let me put 2.5 stars I would give it that. I bought it because of the reviews. But it didn't pan out. I finished it in a couple of days reading it before I went to sleep. Looks like they spent all their money on the writing. If you like a decent book and I mean decent.. not amazing like people claim. I would recommend this book to anyone. This is a book! I wouldn't recommend it to people who don't like reading. Also don't trust the reviews that say 3-4 hours.. it all depends on the persons reading skill. It took me 5 hours. And I read pretty well. If you see those YouTube videos about the let's plays. Those guys read so fast! And is why I don't recommend reading it on YouTube.
