The Outer Worlds Expansion Pass is available here

The Outer Worlds is an award-winning single-player first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division.

Lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.

KEY FEATURES

The player-driven story RPG

In keeping with the Obsidian tradition, how you approach The Outer Worlds is up to you. Your choices affect not only the way the story develops; but your character build, companion stories, and end game scenarios.

You can be flawed, in a good way

New to The Outer Worlds is the idea of flaws. A compelling hero is made by the flaws they carry with them. While playing The Outer Worlds, the game tracks your experience to find what you aren't particularly good at. Keep getting attacked by Raptidons? Taking the Raptiphobia flaw gives you a debuff when confronting the vicious creatures, but rewards you with an additional character perk immediately. This optional approach to the game helps you build the character you want while exploring Halcyon.

Lead your companions

During your journey through the furthest colony, you will meet a host of characters who will want to join your crew. Armed with unique abilities, these companions all have their own missions, motivations, and ideals. It's up to you to help them achieve their goals, or turn them to your own ends.

Explore the corporate colony

Halcyon is a colony at the edge of the galaxy owned and operated by a corporate board. They control everything... except for the alien monsters left behind when the terraforming of the colony’s two planets didn’t exactly go according to plan. Find your ship, build your crew, and explore the settlements, space stations, and other intriguing locations throughout Halcyon.

Poorly written and just boring.

I think i'm taking crazy pills as I have no clue how this game got mostly positive reviews. i tried to play it for 12 hours, got all hyped cos it's a Tim Cain game, but just couldn't continue playing. Game was written by a mix of safe corporate strategies and DEI fresh hires re-writing their first story they wrote in college when they heard some ramblings about feminism and capitalism from their lefty professors. wow, so brave and courage, and utterly boring and amateurish. All of the tropes I saw from other freshman in their 101 writing/movie courses in college: Capitalism le bed, men le bed/stupid/npc, women le good/voice of reason/courage/morality/authority, loads of 20yo college cynicism, not understanding of what makes a character interesting, poor mix of shallow humor, poor and artificial moral choices. I give up, don't know what's worse, if Tim can couldn't impact this game, or that he actually did and this is the result. 30$ wasted for a disppointment. Gameplay is also quite boring, quest solving is simple, no sense of progression or uniqeness to my character even though I tried to give it weaknesses and to make it interesting, it really has no impact on gameplay.

It needs work.

I finished the game in 3 weeks. Not a long story, its not horrible though. The world feels like a wasteland, it doesn't feel like people occupy it. Its not bad though, nowhere near Fallout-NV or Fallout3. But that doesn't mean its a bad game, give it a go. Not worth $40, feels like a $15-$25 game.

A well done cRPG in space!

I had so much fun with this game! Its strong points are the setting and the story, which are very consistent, building a believable world to sink into. This consistency leads to a feeling that you’re being taken seriously, the authors are working hard to make this a true escape. It’s witty but at the same time makes some serious parabolas, taking a bit of inspiration from the Hunger Games for example. Excellent soundtrack and decent visuals contribute to the immersion, and character building and choices that you make lets you further nicely role-play. Most of the mechanics accompany the game well too: equipment improvement, companion system, combat (if needed!). To some downside, I think late game locations could be better used, they are gorgeous and could be a fantastic setting for many stories, but instead not much is happening there. But hey, even the first Fallouts had problems with that! ;) A note too, worth played on harder modes - you’re motivated to explore more mechanics and makes you more aware of the surroundings when you explore. I give my clear recommendation to anyone who likes story-rich cRPGs, and if you’re fond of the retro-future setting, you will enjoy it even more!

Character creator is bugged!

This is by far not the only problem, but its a START yes you make a character and it looks different than in creator you can't change appeal once that done! You determine Attributes: attributes are to be or not to be of the builds you can respect the builds, but your attributes remain -1 charm will never do companion build Skill system is pretty good, skill check levels are joke Story: Epic exclusive 1 year edition outer Woke tells the story about corporations being bad in the game where you support 10 corporations/gangs/factions just to screw one of them xD female characters are presented as great, innovative, strong..EXCLUSIVELY Femininity? forget it, its modern murica, richest country in the world, we can't afford it male characters are Terrible! Vicar max have some qualities, everybody else is weak, loser or creep from pighouse Murder mystery? who killed? MAN you can't interact with... Gameplay is great, until you start melee combat... for some reasons my attacks don't hit targets Loading is so stupid, you can run thru empty map because enemies will not load in time Stealth? don't works, single sneak attack alarm everybody and you can't move bodies Tinkering is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE to make old weapons as good as new you find Speechcheck is always superior option, your character don't say smart thing because hes intelligent, but because its best option in conversation... there is always reward behind speech-checks...you no longer flavor say (excluding dumb dialogue) can pacifist base game, but not DLCes can't progress in the game without getting 18 000$ early or killing old woman and betraying rick Rick Sanchez is incompetent in this game, hes the good ending guy, but his only game is to takeover Hope supply of frozen people to awake... Board is the bad faction and their plan is to stock up on supplies and wait when others starve i really wanna like this game and to some degree i do, but its not as fun to play as games i like because they are good like NV:)
